Comey Fact-Checks Trump Tweet About Russia Hearing--During Russia Hearing
By ALICE OLLSTEIN Published MARCH 20, 2017, 2:49 PM EDT
President Donald Trump took to Twitter in the middle of the House Intelligence Committee's hearing on Russian interference in the 2016 election to cherry-pick a few moments that cast his administration in a positive light, while ignoring the most damning revelations from the morning.
As the hearing dragged into its fifth hour, Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) read aloud one of the President's tweets from the dias and asked Comey to fact-check it.
"Thanks to the modern technology that's in front of me right here, I've got a tweet from the President an hour ago saying 'The NSA and FBI told Congress that Russia did not influence the electoral process.' So that's not quite accurate, that tweet?" Himes asked.
"It certainly wasn't our intention to say that today," Comey answered. "We don't have any information on that subject. That's not something that was looked at."

(7,309 posts)Why can't he say it in no uncertain terms? I hate the way these weasels dance around the question. It's a simple question, give a simple answer!
