Confederate flag insults nation and military (LTTE | NY)

Every now and then, I see a Confederate flag flapping from a truck ... As an American, it sickens me to see this symbol of racism and treason. A symbol used by white supremacist groups has no place in our community. We are a military town and dependent on our military for jobs and income ... Our African-American soldiers should not be subjected to this ...

So I Googled it. It's from a "Newsweek" article with quite a few old photos documenting America's racist past.
The banner was hung outside the NAACP Headquarters, circa 1938
