Single-Payer Healthcare: Essential To Meritocracy
Here's an article I wrote about single-payer healthcare that many of you may find interesting: http://propagandacheck.com/?p=701
It's essentially a compendium of the arguments in favor of such a system.
I focus on a few things:
1.) The current system is enormously expensive: single-payer is cheaper, both in aggregate and for the most vulnerable members of the population.
2.) In so far as there's a "national debt crisis" -- there isn't -- single-payer is essential. This is because current increases in healthcare expenditures are almost entirely what's driving the long-term deficit increase.
3.) I conclude by saying that, for the meritocracy, single-payer is required. Health doesn't really play by merit-based rules. Often people living near refineries -- so-called "fence-line communities" -- and other chemical plants receive many health detriments without any of the benefits.
I hope everyone enjoys it.
