Romney tells donors he is considering 2016 campaign

Source: Washington Post

Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, told Republican donors in New York on Friday that he is seriously considering a third presidential campaign in 2016, according to a source present at the meeting.

Spencer Zwick, Romney’s former national finance co-chairman who was at the New York meeting, confirmed that Romney is weighing a 2016 run.

“I believe Mitt Romney is too much of a patriot to sit on the sidelines and concede the presidency to Hillary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren when he knows that he can fix the country,” Zwick said. “He traveled the country in 2014, met with voters, met with citizens, and I think at the end of the day he believes he could actually make a difference.”

Zwick added, “He won’t make a decision to run for president based on who else is in the race. He will make a decision based on his own desire and his own abilities. He has to decide on his own.”

1. Maybe he and Jeb will split the establishment vote, canceling each other out...

...and leaving Cruz or some wingnut as the nominee to go down in a Goldwater-esque disaster.

One can dream.

2. I admit I had the same fantasy when I read the article.

Mitt and Jeb are going to be ripping each other to shreds in an attempt to prove which one has the most power. This could be even more entertaining than I'd previously expected.

3. yup - shades of Mitt vs. Rudy in 2008

Last time McCain emerged as the victor of the two establishment frontrunners destroying each other.

We can only hope a Huckabee, Cruz or Santorum breaks through.

Maybe it's time for a Democrat to break FDR and Reagan's records and win all 50 states.

30. $$$$

They will split the proceeds!! Who would want to work for Mittens again after the last time when he cancelled their credit cards when they tried to return home?? A while ago he told big money donors he would run if they pledged ALL their money to him, excluding everyone else. What a guy!!

5. 4 years of doing nothing

Like many republicans, Mitt thinks sitting on his ass
collecting dividends qualifies him to run things.

How about those tax returns Mitt?

6. He just wants to create and manage a Super PAC

to line his pockets when he actually decides to drop out of consideration. Note that all of them declaring their possible intention (Carson, Bush, Santorum, etc) have all created or already have, Super PACs, ready to keep them living the high life..

23. We also don't need any lackeys of wealthy white men in the Presidency, or any public office...

...which rules out the entire potential Class of 2016, except Ron Paul, who is really a Libertarian.

31. Nude swimming

I wonder WHO participates in this in the Senate pool?? Crooks and Liars has an article on the senators who used to swim naked in their pool, until 2008!! I imagine Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell vied to be first one in each day.

8. Patriot my butt. Running for prez is a jobs program

and wealth transfer for the Romney family and their posse. Compare the net worth of their kids and associates before after "Pops" ran for prez. Consulting, PR gigs, it's a scam.

I can't really see one of those two settling for second place, but maybe that's just me.

They would have to pick a Tea Bagger, or the Right stays home. So maybe Jeb/Cruz, or Romney/Paul.

26. I love that he put Sen. Warren's name in there with HR Clinton as possible opposition candidates...

because I can JUST picture Mitt Romney debating ELIZABETH FUCKING WARREN on the state of the economy, how it got that way, and how to fix it.

Clubs and Baby Seals.
Only in the spectacle of the American political arena though, could the baby seal be oh-so-eager to get it's cranium cracked.

AGAIN.

34. The elephant in the room

For the "base" the bible thumpers who believe that dinosaurs walked on earth with men - Mormons are Satan not to be trusted or elected.

Now, had the Republicans not so much dependent on these morons, this would be a different matter.
