The ‘Jeb Bush Doctrine’ makes debut
Source: Miami Herald
The Bush Doctrine is on the verge of making a comeback.
As Jeb Bush weighs a presidential bid, the former Florida governor on Tuesday laid out his foreign policy precepts, which closely mirror that of his brother, former President George W. Bush.
Bush detailed seven points in all during a speech to the U.S. Cuba Democracy PAC at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, where he told the crowd that the United States shouldnt back away from engaging its friends or enemies anywhere in the world.
For Bush, that starts 90 miles from U.S. shores, with the Cuban embargo and travel policy.
I would argue that, instead of lifting the embargo, we should consider strengthening it, Bush said, calling for free elections, free trade and the release of political prisoners on the communist island.
The crowd of donors, the backbone of Cubas exiled elite, applauded loudly.
Bush called for more military and cybersecurity spending, strengthening international alliances, robustly criticizing enemies and expanding free trade. He sounded notes of concern with nearly every quarter of the world: Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Israel.
Bushs speech doubled as a campaign trial balloon and as payback against President Obama, who successfully campaigned in 2008 against George W. Bushs foreign policy. Obama promised to withdraw from Iraq and generally called for a less muscular overseas engagement.
Jeb Bush inverted those criticisms of Obama, pointing to the chaos in Syria and the rise of the terrorist group ISIS there and in Iraq.
In this unstable and uncertain world, the United States has actually played a part in creating greater instability and greater unraveling, Bush said, adding that the United States, because weve retrenched, now has worse relations than what we had before.
Bushs foreign-policy speech came a day after he outlined domestic policy points at the Wall Street Journals CEO Council gathering in Washington. Many of those who attended Tuesdays event said Bushs back-to-back policy addresses were the clearest sign yet that he intends to run for

BE VERY AFRAID!!!
Further in the story they quote a supporter and republican incoming house member saying, "this is the JEB BUSH doctrine".....
He's lost weight, so now he looks more like poppy than mommy and that also is a sign he will run.
I can't say this enough and I'll continue to say it, the democrats need a real alternative to run against JEB, and that's not Hillary. By alternative I mean, a candidate that republicans will vote for, because they are 'Bush fatigued" as well. But they won't vote for Hillary, or anyone that they have disliked and ran against in the past. This lesson was just learned in Florida. So few want another Bush, but don't expect the republicans that we need to win, to vote for a Clinton! They won't do it! Also, neither side is looking forward to another Bush/Clinton race. A campaign of total baggage, the electorate is TIRED of. It will not generate turnout. Mommy Bush had it right, when she said there are more than two families in this country.
Get it DNC???

(2,104 posts)So now here comes Jeb.
His wife can never be a first lady. She lied to the feds about 20K in purchases she was bringing back into the U.S. from Paris. Jeb's been a big philanderer. Two of his children have been in the news in the past years for arrests linked to drug problems, public intoxication, and sex in public. (don't confuse the W's kids).
Then there is the family issue of robbing banks. One, the Silverado Savings and Loan, several ways into which many in the Bush family were involved, and also many politicians still in office today. Jeb, George Sr., and his son Neil Bush have all been implicated in the Savings and Loan Scandal, which cost American tax payers over $1.4 TRILLION dollars, one quarter of our national debt. One also thinks it's polite to take up the Asian hookers when presented.
Their grandfather worked for Hilter, and HW lied about working for the CIA. We were to believe this when he was chosen to head the CIA agency?
The entire family has been an "AMERICAN DISASTER'.
Then there is Jeb's Nigerian water pump bribery scandal back in the courts, just last year! Illegal immigration is an "act of love". (Then he bashed Obama for acting on it!)
Let us not forget that Jeb Bush defaulted on a $4.56 million dollar loan from the Broward Federal Savings in Sunrise, FL. After federal regulators closed the S&L, the office building that Jeb used the $4.56 million to finance was reappraised by the regulators at $500,000.00, which Bush and his partners paid. The taxpayers had to pay back the remaining 4 million plus dollars, as in the past. This family robs banks and created a drug war to run drugs. Just read Barry and the Boys. Barry Seal flew planes for the CIA and ran drugs for HW and a few others.
So spare me if I'm a little sad to even THINK ABOUT ANOTHER BUSH RUNNING! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? US?
Must we put ourselves through this again? Or will the voting machines Jeb ushered in do it for us?
Whenever a Bush is involved, taxpayers lose. They are thieves! Every one of them!

I hear this crap from various family members--people who are normally reasonable and intelligent--almost every day. And it's only going to get worse.

While JEB's wife Columba was First Lady of Florida she went on a shopping trip to Paris. When she came back k to the states she lied to the feds in customs. She lied to the agents and said she brought back NOTHING! So they take a look and find Jeb's wife, Florida's First Lady, actually brought back $20,000.00 worth of shit! It was all over the snooze!
What do you expect from someone who they say is the daughter of a Mexican mafia boss! It was said she did this to get back at Jeb for his known affair with a woman named Cynthia. A Florida senator told me Columba walked in on the dirty dance! She is a liar criminal as a state First Lady, while JEB is a philanderer. tHIS is why she can never be a First Lady! Google it!

(19,847 posts)I've heard most all the things you mentioned before and, while awful, they're not relevant to being First Lady.
TheNutcracker
(2,104 posts)Why would you want her out there doing good deeds with various organizations only to worry that her, or the family will have her pilfering from them????
She lied to the feds...so taxpayers should pay for them to now protect her?
I would say this family is done and to stick a fork in them. If we don't believe in integrity, and don't feel it should be an issue, then get ready to lose, and to have another BUSH in the WH.
How awful for everyone.

(51,642 posts)NEW YORK A savings and loan became insolvent after lending President Bush's son Jeb and a partner about half the money toward purchase of a $9-million office building, and the federal government ended up repaying most of the loan, the New York Times reported.
Although it involved no criminal behavior, the loan is an example of the kind of poor lending practices that led to the thrift industry's troubles, the newspaper said.
California Federal Bank of Los Angeles ending up buying the failed thrift, Broward Federal Savings and Loan of Sunrise, Fla., from federal regulators two years ago.
The Jeb Bush transaction was unrelated to civil charges that the president's youngest son, Neil, 35, acted improperly in his role as a director of Silverado Banking, Savings and Loan Association of Denver. That S&L failed in 1988 after making questionable loans.
The Miami deal involves Jeb Bush, 37, and his partner, Armando Codina, who own a partnership called 1390 Brickell.

(18,184 posts)I've been saying that for more than a year, since the Gouta chemical attack. It was so obvious that the MSM had flipped back into Bush era propaganda mode but this time on steroids. And since then we've had a number of neocon propaganda stunts.
And the media will coddle both Bush and Clinton as they try to outdo each other on who can be more interventionist, all the while ignoring that it was foreign adventurism that caused many of the problems in the first place.

(2,188 posts)Wow. You think we say nasty things about Hillary? When we do someone will always jump in and say "She will be better than any Republican!" or "It's against DU rules not to support the Democratic nominee!" Well, on FR they are universally against Jeb or any other Bush again!
Jim Lane
(11,175 posts)Yes, they're universally against Jeb (or Christie, for that matter) -- but they were universally against McCain in 2008 and Romney in 2012. In 2012, JimRob wrote, "I'd rather shut the place down than be involved in any effort to install abortionist/gay rights pushing RINOS like Romney or Giuliani into the White House!! Do NOT push this crap on FR. Take your business elsewhere!!" By the time of the election, however, he stated on the site that he was voting for Romney.
The only hope I see, and it's a very faint one, is if Palin or Cruz or some such RWNJ actually runs as a third-party candidate. Otherwise, FR will come around and endorse the Republican nominee, just as most of us on DU who dislike Hillary will hold our noses and vote for her if she's the Democratic nominee.

(103 posts)Candidate in mind? Inquiring mind wants to know. If Gov.Jeb Bush wishes to have a go, at running for President let him have a crack at it. But this ridiculous angst and fear from you that if it's Hillary who wins the nomination and not some magical left-wing alternative, the Democrats are toast in Thar 2016 presidential election?
You can't really help yourself take a dig at Hillary at every turn huh. I will take (as most Americans) Clinton's record over the Bushe's any day, and every time. The Clintons are a winner, Hillary is of no exception. Field your candidate of choice and discuss his or her merits as to why that person is a much worthy candidate than Hillary. If you don't have any substantive things to say, other than conjecture then stop hyperventilating and worse quit acting like chicken little against any Republican candidates. They are all a joke, Jeb Bush included.
