Iran says it downs Israeli drone near nuclear site

Source: Associated Press

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards is saying its forces have shot down an Israeli drone as it approached an Iranian nuclear site.

The Guards issued a statement on its website saying its forces fired a missile at the drone as it neared its uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, more than 300 kilometers (185 miles) south of the capital, Tehran.

The statement did not say when it shot down the drone, nor did it elaborate on how the Guards knew the drone was from Israel. Israeli officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

This comes as world powers negotiate with the Islamic Republic over its contested nuclear program. The West fears it could allow Iran to build a nuclear weapon. Tehran says its program is for peaceful purposes.

Iran reveals footage of alleged Israeli spy drone

Iranian experts are decoding the intelligence devices of what it says is an Israeli spy drone that was shot down over central Iran on Sunday, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced Sunday night.

The corps' aerospace force shot down the drone before it could reach the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, according to Iran. Israeli officials have declined to comment whether or not Israel lost a drone over Iran.

Some of the allegedly downed aircraft's parts are working, "and our experts are studying the information and intelligence of these parts," General Ramezan Sharif, director of the corps' public relations department, told the semi-official Fars News Agency. "We are now analyzing the information of this plane."

Iran released video footage of the what it claims to be an Israeli spy plane Monday morning on the Al Alam news website. It asserts the drone belongs to the Hermes class of unamanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

than Netanyahoo. I remember when Hezbollah embarrassed Israel in Lebanon then Nasrallah had Hezbollah rebuild the damage. The US should be asking Nasrallah, who is the number one military tactician in existence right now, what to do about IS. But, no, the US won't do that; it will end up with another military defeat and expand IS into an unstoppable caliphate. Hamas I have little use for. But having looked at the current state of affairs and watched the US kill and destroy in country after country in under Disaster Capitalism for its oligarchs, I do not have the same perception of it or the rest of the world as others. And Putin? Putin was dead on about what what IS would become when he told Obama what would happen if he armed the Syrian rebels (ISIS). We are now using taxpayer money to buy weapons to fight against people using weapons taxpayers paid for in another country that hates our guts, like most of the world. Yeah, I'm really so down on Iran...

is, thank The Lord, Obama took Putin's advise a year ago, against the advise of screaming McCain, to not arm ISIS in Syria.....remember that?

Only the mass media has such horrible amnesia.

More on topic, big , bad Ben has opened up the floodgates of propaganda hell to justify his righteous killing of babies.

in the US anymore. Until the oligarchs are blowing up each other's infrastructure enough that whatever is left of the common man can recoup some power unto the people, we will continue to drown in a pool of avarice and self-aggrandizement until there is nothing left but herds of THX 1138's driving herds of middle class serfs from box houses to places of employment and back.

Nasrallah is a humanitarian and number one military tactician in existence?

"There is no solution to the conflict in this region except with the disappearance of Israel"

Not a particularly humanitarian statement.

To say nothing of his directing Hezbollah to enter Syria to protect the Assad regime.

To quote Robert Fisk:

If – as Nasrallah insists – Hezbollah is really a “resistance” movement, how come it did not support the resistance against Assad?

didn't read that in my post... And Nasrallah chose Assad because to him it was the right path, which it turned out to be. Nasrallah has heard about this as a misadventure, but I didn't think so then--or now.

Of course, there's no requirement to be an American to belong to DU, so I guess you could easily have interlopers who blame the US for everything bad and think Israel is genocidal.
Putin has his fan base here too, you know. Another big humanitarian to some.
I know there's no requirement that everyone agree on everything ALL the time, but damn.

of transfer payments destroy. How many people they kill or maim. No matter how many life-changing mistakes they make to the people they kill...No matter what. Everything is AOK It wasn't while they were doing it. It isn't now. I tramped through the jungles in 65 to 67 for this country and another stupid war started base on a lie. I have now watched more and more lies and idiocy take form every 6 months or so to feed the insatiable appetites of the Military Industrial Complex for more money and death. Well, more and more people see what's happening every day. Now we have an enemy raised and nurtured by our own arrogance and stupidity that has backers of endless funds. And as this enemy continues to grow by expanding where the US isn't, what's next? We going to draft Johnny so he can go to Syria and form another Abu Graib, or something worse? Time to quit letting the armchair generals and plutocrats lead us down the path of destruction because this time it's SERIOUS! These Islamics think we are the actual devil. And getting serious means hiring people who know this particular enemy! That would be a good first start. Eventually, we should get to the point where we quit creating hornet's nest all over the world and plant more seeds of hate that come back in spades.
