The American Civil Liberties Union sued the Ferguson, Mo., police department Thursday in an effort to obtain the department's incident report on the shooting of an unarmed African-American teen.
The lawsuit alleged that the ACLU had been denied access to the department's full report on the police shooting of Michael Brown on Saturday. The suit alleged that the denial was a violation of Missouri's Sunshine Law.
The National Associated for the Advancement of Colored People also wrote a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, asking him "to take immediate action to address the unjustified use of lethal and excessive force by police officers."

(23,094 posts)Make them pay for their heinous actions. Bring all to light in a court case. These kinds of actions can't be tolerated.

(15,035 posts)I've been a member for the past 15 years. I paid my annual membership back in January and I don't recall if it was $15 or $25. But it's one of the best investments anyone can make in trying to hold on to our freedoms.
Their national number is (212) 549-2500. Their newsletters and emails always let you know what they're involved in.
Once you join, you can tell your wingnut family members and/or acquaintences that you're a card-carrying member of the ACLU. It'll make their heads explode.
