Exclusive: Prosecutor Is Closing In on Gov. Christie

Source: Esquire

“It’s over, it’s done, and I’m moving on.” -- Chris Christie, reassuring potential donors in Utah on June 14th

Back on planet Reality, meanwhile, Paul Fishman, the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, wades through the sewage of Christie’s stewardship. Two sources with intimate knowledge of the case say Fishman’s pace is quickening -- he has empaneled a second grand jury, and the U.S. Justice Department has sent assistant prosecutors and FBI agents to work the case.

“What’s taking the most time,” according to one source, “is separating what's viable from all the bad stuff they’re finding that may not be viable.”

Fishman’s challenge is to nail down specific criminal charges on several fronts -- the diversion of Port Authority money to fund New Jersey road and bridge projects; the four-day rush-hour closures of George Washington Bridge lanes in Ft. Lee; and a web of real-estate deals spun by David Samson, long a Christie crony, when he chaired the PA’s Board of Commissioners as Christie’s appointee. (One such deal, a stalled office-tower development in Hoboken, New Jersey, is central to a claim that Christie’s lieutenant governor told the town’s mayor that the state would withhold Hurricane Sandy relief aid from Hoboken if the mayor didn’t sign off on the development project.)

...but I'll hope to see dots connected, even if it turns out no crimes were committed.

I hoop they can find cause to nail Dave and Charlie, too.

30. Yes, I think so, too

It's very interesting that federal prosecutors are looking at connections with fundraising among these groups of republicans.

When I saw the Scott Walker thread...and now this...

I am so loving it!

Yellowcanine, shall we get you a mail order subscription for Depends to get you through the summer?!

At one time I had a legal mentor. This person has now passed on, but in his day was a very astute legal scholar and brilliant man. Whenever I would get down about the system performing, he would remind me that the system is slow, but it grinds away and eventually, it delivers.

To the highest bidder and that it will be the nail in the coffin of Christie's career.

11. It would appear that she has been singing since late March.......

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/03/28/1288133/-Bridge-Anne-Kelly-Strikes-Back-Christie-is-Venomous-and-Sexist#

Highlights from Ms. Kelly's attorney; key portion in italics ......

“The report's venomous, gratuitous, and inappropriate sexist remarks concerning Ms. Kelly have no place in what is alleged to be a professional and independent report.”

"The only credible investigation into the lane closings is being conducted by the U.S. Attorney's Office."

"If Ms. Kelly were provided with the appropriate procedural safeguards, she will be fully cooperative and provide truthful and complete answers to any questions asked of her by the appropriate law enforcement authorities."

Kelley's attorney Michael Critchley also points out how Christie's so-called internal investigation was nothing more than a pathetic attempt to trash key witnesses of his felonious acts.

“A preemptive strike to isolate Ms. Kelly and impugn her credibility is not surprising."
“There appear to be two distinct versions of the George Washington Bridge lane closings. On the one hand, Mr. Wildstein, through his counsel, has taken one clear position. On the other hand, Mr. Mastro has staked a different view. Thus, Ms. Kelly's evidence could be critical to verifying either of the two competing versions of events."

If Wildstein, Kelly and Sampson all sing on Christie it could be a trifecta!

It appears that Christie's ass is grass.

27. The only allegation I see in there is sexism

While that is grotesque and horrid behavior, it's something that might only involve ethics charges. Kelley needs to start singing about what happened in the bridge scandal. They need to charge her soon before any more time lapses.

I'm getting sick of waiting for this thing to unfold. They need to perp walk that asshole in front of a bank of cameras.

5. More from article

Christie’s Port appointees -- not only Samson, but former PA Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni and his oddball sidekick David Wildstein -- all face near-certain indictment and are being pressed to hand up Christie, as is the governor’s former chief counsel, Charlie McKenna.

Wildstein, portrayed as the mastermind behind Ft. Lee’s traffic problems, has made proffers to Fishman’s investigators -- hoping to trade information to the prosecutor in exchange for gentler legal treatment -- but Fishman has cut no deals with anyone so far, and the looming indictments have encouraged Christie’s PA appointees to sing. “Don’t underestimate what Wildstein has on Christie,” says one source. “And Wildstein and Baroni have both turned on Samson. If Samson doesn't give Fishman Christie, Samson is toast.”

32. is it just me, or...

does Obama look like he's being a bit patronizing to Christie?

That expression on Christie's face is pretty amazing when you consider that Obama got him all that dough and then Christie went off and spent it for his own corrupt political purposes, leaving the Sandy victims twisting in the winds.

There are no words that can describe the disgust I feel for Christie.

39. wouldn't surprise me

Due to the fact that Christie was such a presidential contender for so long. The Dems had to have a profile on him and anyone with an ounce of sense can see that Christie is the type to hang himself, given enough rope.

The money Obama gave him was the rope.

And now it is Christie who is twisting in the winds.

15. This is L O N G overdue. Christie bribed former USAG Ashcroft and was a corrupt US Attorney

He's need a swift kick in the arse for a long time now.

In 2007, during the Hearing on Rules Governing Judicial Conduct per 28 U.S.C. $$ 351-354
per the Government in Sunshine Act (Pub. L 94-409) (5 U.S.C. Section 552) -

former USAG John Ashcroft was quoted by Francis C P Knize as stating;
http://petters-fraud.com/KnizeTestimony_DOJ_JudicialConference_BankruptcyCorruption.pdf

Bankruptcy court corruption is not just a matter of bankruptcy trustees in collusion with corrupt bankruptcy judges. The corruption is supported, and justice hindered by high ranking officials in the United States Trustee Program. The corruption has advanced to punishing any and all who mention the criminal acts of trustees and organized crime operating through the United States Bankruptcy Courts. As though greed is not enough, the trustees, in collusion with others, intentionally go forth to destroy lives. Exemptions provided by law are denied debtors.

Cases are intentionally, and unreasonably kept open for years. Parties in cases are sanctioned to discourage them from pursuing justice. Contempt of court powers are misused to coerce litigants into agreeing with extortion demands. This does not ensure integrity and restore public confidence.

The American public, victimized and held hostage by bankruptcy court corruption, have no where to turn."

[br][hr][br]

Then, the dear ole U.S. Attorney Chris Christie found a way to bury such banter;
and former USAG Ashcroft (along with USA Debra Yang) - were given a $50 Million NO Bid DPA contract.

DPA stands for "Deferred Prosecution Agreement".

There's a more blunt name for a target of a federal investigation giving the former USAG $50 million

to forgo a prosecution!

23. U R welcome. They (the nefarious 1%) own the Press (such as Bain = Clear Channel = Beck, Limbaugh an

d - Hannity.

Plus,

They steal billions, buy assets that advertise billions;
which makes all others afraid to lose ad revenue (for reporting on them).

Additionally (did you know) Romney = Bain = Clear Channel Communications = Red McCombs
and

Red McCombs owns Blackwater (renamed "Xe" and now called "Academi)

And John Ashcroft works for Red McCombs.
http://academi.com/pages/about-us/board-of-directors/red-mccombs-chairman

So you have them all come full circle;
and all reporters scared to report on Mercenaries!
