Former Democratic Rep. Bill Foster leading in comeback attempt

Former Democratic Rep. Bill Foster is ahead tonight in his attempt at a political comeback, but numbers are slow coming in.

In the west and southwest suburban 11th District, Foster had 52 percent of the vote to Jim Hickey’s 20 percent and Juan Thomas’s 28 percent in early returns mostly from Will County.

Hickey is president of the Orland Park Fire Protection District and Thomas was Aurora Township clerk. Foster far outspent the two.

The Democratic physicist from Naperville is running in fairly new territory. His old district stretched from St. Charles west to near the Mississippi River. The new 11th District sprawls from Burr Ridge west to Aurora and south to Joliet.
