Mitt Romney: Planned Parenthood, we're going to get rid of that

Kirkwood, MO (KSDK) - The Republican race for the White House is moving to Missouri and Mitt Romney detailed cuts to reduce the debt, including Planned Parenthood.
(snip)
One on one, he detailed his plan to lower gas prices.
"We're going to start drilling again in the Gulf, we're going to drill in the outer continental shelf, we're going to drill in North Dakota, Oklahoma and Texas. That communicates to the world that there will be more supply coming from the U.S. And that affects the price of gasoline," said Romney.
(snip)
As for ways to reduce debt, he suggests a few cuts.
"The test is pretty simple. Is the program so critical, it's worth borrowing money from china to pay for it? And on that basis of course you get rid of Obamacare, that's the easy one. Planned Parenthood, we're going to get rid of that. The subsidy for Amtrak, I'd eliminate that. The National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities," he said.

What America will look like under the guidance of Mitt Romney
Drill baby drill. A nation of toxic waste.
Are we REALLY borrowing from China to pay for low income women's healthcare through Planned Parenthood, Amtrak travel across our land,
and programs offered through the Arts & Humanity Foundations that are there for all American citizens to enjoy?
Maybe the problem is people like Mitt, who avoid paying taxes via his offshore bank accts.
American life under Mitt's care. Expect nothing for the taxpayers

I 'get' the GOPs' pandering to the anti-planned parenthood issue, but Amtrak? Endowment for Arts & Humanities?
Guess we'll be all driving to musicals & performances about someone's idea of Jesus, on the GOP mandated Toll Roads. And you know those toll roads will be privatized. The funds made from them will not be put back into the American economy, because there WONT BE A NEED FOR AN AMERICAN ECONOMY. ahhhggggg!!!

(50,557 posts)as is most of the Northeast...but ya never know.
We could solve all of America's fiscal problems overnight by getting rid of one thing. Just one. But Mitt will never mention it because the "one thing" is the preferential income tax rate on capital gains.
Here's a little example of why the capital gains rate is fucked up that any redneck can understand. We'll call it the Kevin Harvick Rule.
This is Kevin Harvick driving the #29 Budweiser Chevrolet. Budweiser is made by Anheuser-Busch.
Kevin makes a lot of money driving this car. For every $1 million he earns driving this car, he is required to send $350,000 to the government.
If he were to buy stock in Anheuser-Busch, hold it a year and sell it for a $1 million profit, he would be required to send $150,000 of it to the government.
I'm sure you can see the hypocrisy in that.

(5,763 posts)As for drilling in the Gulf, so we can release more oil on the world markets and make your buddies richer, Mitt? Or are you going to limit the free market and demand that oil be used domestically?

(12,233 posts)Guess he hopes YouTube doesn't work in Florida, since he's in Missouri giving away our beautiful beaches. WTF do they think FL operates on? Oranges and Tourists; NASA was demolished, so all the smart people have left the state.. and the one's who get a college education leave in droves too for better work opportunities. FL really could have had an advantageous job market with the high speed rail project. We were supposed to have an Orlampa market... 2/3 of the cost was covered by the Federal govt, the other 1/3 had pledged private grant support from businesses around the world. China was looking for an larger city-like area that could be developed relatively cheaply with relatively cheaper laborers to expand into the US market with solar technologies. Could you imagine; we might not be Flori-Duh anymore?!
AND the initial "build" projected 24,000 jobs. So many people are so massively pissed off at the Gov... And on the other side, why did Obama have to play dick swords with these ass-hat republican teahadists? When Abe Lincoln built the Railroad during the middle of a Civil war, he certainly didn't ask permission for the Federal Govt to build the rail line state by state. Pres. Obama could design the transportation dept in a manner that forced imminent domain on the areas for the high speed rail, and we would be nearly 2 yrs into a major works project in the Tampa and Orlando area. On top of that, Pres. Obama could be standing in Tampa in front of the rail project while the dumb ass pukes try to remain relevant in the Convention Center for their national convention. It would have been hilarious.
Even republicans wouldn't vote for their asses if the train project had brought about good paying jobs for modern transportation for the middle and lower class people. Anyone who has been caught in horrible traffic from Tampa to Orlando knows what a major improvement hopping on a commuter train for approx. 30 mins would mean to their lives... On a good, no traffic problem day, it can take 90 mins to 2 hrs to drive; with an accident or "season", the traffic can back up and make the commute 3 or 4 hours.. And then there are the odd ball times a heavy fog rolls in, and have created some of the worst most deadliest pile-ups... I think it was last year or so that there was a 80 car pile-up.
The President just needs to do as much as he can to outshine and out-think the pukes; and that's really not all that difficult. He certainly doesn't need to campaign to the right or center anymore. The right is so far right, they fell off the cliff. The pendulum needs to swing wildly to the left to even out the last 40 yrs of horrible law-making. Just speaking about common sense subjects brings people into the fold.. Of course the loony-toon, hateful, fearful, selfish people that make up the GOP base is more than likely a lost cause and we just have to bring them kicking and screaming into the modern world with us.

So he would eliminate those programs? Does he propose how Arts and Humanities do reach out the middle/working class or are they unworthy?
Are 'Arts and Humanities' only for the people who can afford to participate? Who is waging class war now?
Every cut he lists is yet another assault in the rethugs class war.

(3,384 posts)Their goal is to grab every last dime from the taxpayers & from programs that are set up to support our well being & lifestyle.
They view every program & trust, paid into by the public tax dollars or matched by govt grants in order to support programs for future generations, as a bankroll free for their taking and ready to be simply moved to their corporate or personal offshore tax free accounts.
-------------------
So much for the churches and proponents that have brought an issue to the funding of Planned Parenthood with their tax dollars. According to Mitt, their tax dollars are not funding Planned Parenthood. China is.

(711 posts)They couldn't make any money providing passenger service, so passenger rail service was taken over by The National Railroad Passenger Corporation (dba Amtrak), a government owned corporation. So, to not provide funds for Amtrak, will destroy all inter-city passenger service in the US, basically.
Ah, what does he care, anyway....its only "non-rich" people who ride trains.

(23,372 posts)He has no principles, left or right or whatever. You can guarantee that if the Republicans are stupid enough to nominate him, that he will be singing an entirely different tune after cinching it. Though I don't think Romney is likely to win an election for president, his presidency would be very good for the left, and very bad for the right - especially the "social right." They'd be totally frozen out.

(425 posts)on our bottom line is?
How come we don't hear about those numbers, and it's always the social programs?
Doesn't anyone in our M$M know that oil production peaked in the U.S. decades ago?
I know... facts, unfortunately, are not popular in our ultra-capitalist society any more, at least with the fat cats and their tools (M$M), so none of that matters when perception is everything. But you (or at least I) would think that with all our 'freedom' of the press, and expansion in communication, with the paradigm shift in the reach and volume, of even an average citizens voice and ideas, in the advent of the www, that at least the rhetoric of them trying (perpetually) to justify their sins would have changed. However, even with all that 'progress', we seem to be slipping even more and more into the inequities of thought and stale, dangerous, prejudiced ideas of the past.
on the other hand, when you consider how much control the enemies of the people have over the matrix, i mean the M$M, I guess it all adds up.
Mission Accomplished.
