Release of previously redacted GWB messages reveals new information
Source: Bergen Record
The private messages that linked Governor Christie’s office to lane closures at the George Washington Bridge also contain jokes about causing “traffic problems” at the home of a New Jersey rabbi associated with the Port Authority, newly released documents show. The information is contained in 20 pages of messages that previously had redactions shielding who sent and received texts between former Port Authority executive David Wildstein and others. The documents do not shed any new light on potential further involvement of the governor’s office. 6. Welcome to DU, Beach Rat!
Glad you're here! GREAT observation. They are indeed dark hollow souls. And that's about the best one can say about them. Now they're weasels trying to cover their tracks and finagle some sort of protection so they don't have to pay for their criminal behavior.

9. Thank you
What creepy people. It's like they're living out some kind of power fantasy from a political movie or tv show. Like this is the way "players" act.

2. An additional story out from the Star-Ledger
The records also included newly revealed messages between Wildstein and Bill Baroni, the former deputy executive director at the Port Authority. On Nov. 12, Baroni wrote, "Are we being fired?"
Wildstein announced his resignation Dec. 6, saying the controversy over the lane closings had "become a distraction, and I'm going to move on." Baroni resigned Dec. 13. The records also suggest state Sen. Kevin O'Toole (R-Essex), who serves on the committee, coordinated with Wildstein on Nov. 25 to release a statement supporting Baroni's testimony earlier that day that the lane closings were the result of a traffic study. http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/02/bridge_scandal_david_wildstein_uncensored_documents.html#incart_river_default |

4. And yet another from the NY Times
Hoping to run up an impressive margin of victory in November, Mr. Christie’s campaign aggressively targeted the endorsements of Democratic mayors, religious leaders and other groups. A prevailing theory about the lane closings is that they were intended to punish the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee, Mark Sokolich, who did not endorse Mr. Christie.
The documents include no definitive answer as to why the lanes were closed, or why Mr. Christie’s allies were angry at Mr. Sokolich. But they do help to clarify the roles of various Christie aides now entangled in the scandal, and their attempts to cover up the traffic ruse. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/28/nyregion/documents-show-christie-allies-discussed-another-traffic-jam.html?hp |

8. Every time I see GWB, that is what I think, too
Sorry, but those three letters, in that combination, are already taken. They were seared into my brain during that long eight years (and the year of election runup to them), and they will forever connote that ... person*... to me.
*(I've made a pledge to myself, which I'm trying to keep, not to be mean or hyperbolic or crass. So while I might have wanted to say something like "idiot," I have confined myself to "person." ![]() |
