Ex-Ambassador Eyes Hillary Clinton VP Spot

She might not be a declared presidential candidate yet, but former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton already has one man campaigning to be her vice president. Former Ambassador to Malta and law professor Douglas Kmiec wrote in a lengthy Facebook post that he is seeking public office, both as Clintons possible vice presidential candidate and Congress.
After a lifetime of supporting Democratic and Republican candidates, I am taking up the challenges that confront our nation directly. Specifically, and some will no doubt say, quixotically, I am pursuing the vice presidency of United States, but if all goes well that possibility will turn on the judgment of Pres. Hillary Clinton, Kmiec wrote.
Declaring himself Ready for Hillary, a reference to the super PAC supporting her possible candidacy, Kmiec said he intended to also gather volunteers to support Clinton.
Sure, the odds are long. There is, after all, no present means for voters to decide who will stand as their vice-president, Kmiec wrote. I am pulling together a team of friends. advisors, former students, current students, colleagues, and welcome newcomers to my life to help me participate in the national discussion for the presidency in 2016 with the expectation that Hillary Clinton will be our well-deserved nominee.
Kmiec served as ambassador to Malta from 2009 to 2011 while Clinton was secretary of State.

Why should Dick Cheney be allowed to choose himself?
We should just stop with the hoopla and let the biggest check writers choose themselves.

(17,862 posts)1796 in which Adams and Jefferson fought for the entire time. I would entertain eliminating the office and having the Sec. State also be the first in the line of succession for example (Senate's confirmation also designates individual as no. 2 in succession). Also this would allow the President to remove the no. 2 so you don't have a Jefferson and Burr situation. Succession should go from the House Speaker to the Majority Leader of the Senate (not the pro tem).
