Egypt News Media Clash Over Cause of Violence

CAIRO — On the third day of clashes between security forces and protesters in the center of the capital, a new battle broke out Sunday between Egypt’s state-run and independent media over whom to blame for the violence.

What is at stake in the propaganda war is public support ahead of the looming contest between an elected Parliament and the ruling military council over who will control the transitional government and oversee the drafting of a new constitution.

Human rights activists called the government’s depiction of the protesters as hooligans an official campaign of distortion intended to cover up the military’s violence and bolster its image.

Election monitors also said the violence and confusion were casting a shadow over continuing parliamentary elections — the first since the ouster of Hosni Mubarak.

Too many witnesses for them to get away with this smear campaign against the protesters.

The military must stay out of the government, the people spoke. But they do not want to do that, so they are killing and beating up protesters, and shame on them. Over 40 protesters died last week. Who killed them? With Tear Gas and Nerve Gas or whatever they were using.

Reminds of the attempts here to blame peaceful protesters for the brutality of the police.

Why is it that the bad guys always seem to think the same way, and why are so many of them running things around the world?

Those poor people, all they want is to live normal lives and so many have died already trying to achieve that simply thing.

But, nonetheless, the Egyptian people are speaking in elections. The military wants to invalidate these results, but so do some forces int he West. And so do some on Tahrir. Complex situation.
