Lindsey Graham Says He Plans To Introduce An Authorization For The Use Of Military Force In Iran By Summers End
Just days after saying the same thing in an interview at the Capital last Tuesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham R-SC) again said in front of a friendly audience at a conference put on by the Christians United for Israel that he introduce a resolution to authorize war with Iran.
If nothing changes in Iran, come September, October, I will present a resolution that will authorize the use of military force to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear bomb, Graham told the conference audience.
The only way to convince Iran to halt their nuclear program is to make it clear that we will take it out, he continues.
The National Iranian American Council came out today condemning Grahams call to war.

(5,764 posts)where corporate 'mullahs' narrow our choices with money and propaganda. A candidate who is not vetted by the establishment, gets little or no campaign funding and highly restricted/selective exposure. Our way is a little more sophisticated, but it serves the same purpose as the Iranian method; the perpetuation of the status quo.

(5,029 posts)Hey Lindsey, I understand that you your self have suffered the horrors of war, preparing all those wills for real combat veterans going off to war while doing your stint in the Air Force during the Gulf War. Must have been horrible watching FOX News stories about the war while sitting at your desk.
"Senator Lindsey Graham's repeated description of himself as a Gulf War veteran, despite the fact that the closest he came to the Gulf was South Carolina, where processing wills for soldiers who did deploy to the Gulf".
"Graham had endlessly told the world that he was a "Gulf War veteran," although his service during that period hadn't taken him off the east coast. (The east coast of the U.S.) By the way: In Graham's case, we weren't discussing a single misstatement from a single, two-year-old speech; Graham had endlessly presented himself as a "Gulf War veteran."

(2,730 posts)promise to Christians United for Israel, to comit U.S. Forces to War against Iran if they don't heel to not producing nuclear weapons which threatens Israel. So we will go to War for Israel. It is not for the defense of the United States but for Israel. He has no right to do that under the U.S. Constitution. I guess he means after we comit U.S. forces to get rid of Syria first. I guess he thinks we already eliminated Iraq as a threat to Israel?
I don't think Iran wants to develop a nuclear Bomb because of their religious views. I do think they will use conventional forces if any country attacks their country. I doubt the Iranians are afraid of Netanyahu's or Graham's threats. If Iran was to invade Israel, I do think they (Israel) will resort to using their nuclear weapons because they are vastly out numbered against Iran's huge Arm Forces. Israel does not have the numbers to carry on a sustain War with the size of a country like Iran, the same as Saddam found out. Saddam needed to resort to chemical warfare against Iran's huge army, because they came at Iraq's military in waves.
It is the reason Israel needs the U.S. on their side. In theory, if the U.S. or Israel carry out their threats to bomb Iran, they could retaliate on U.S. interests in the region and countries like Jordan,Qatar, Saudi Arabia and even Israel will be in danger if an Iranian invasion. It will give the Iranians justification to invade other countries.
If that happens, the U.S. will have no other alternative, then to comit U.S. forces to a full scale War with Iran, which will draw in other countries. You just as well say Lindsay Graham's saber rattling could trigger the beginning of World War III with other countries taking sides. There is no way you can figure out the outcome either. It is why madmen like Lindsey Graham shouldn't be in any position of decision making. The last time the World comitted itself to War, it was started by far rightwingers thinking their race was superior. I think that is the mindset of men like Netanyahu and Lindsey Graham. They want be the ones to suffer, but the people they put on the frontlines.

Then, nobody has a right to inspect anywhere within Iran.
Just like Israel.
And nobody can demand to inspect a top secret military base there that has nothing to do with the nuclear program.
Just like Israel.
All the provisions of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons will no longer apply to Iran.

No matter how much the USA pressures Yukiya Amano to demean the office, the IAEA will have absolutely no authority there.

(10,269 posts)How about abolishing America's deployed Nuclear Arsenal, and WATCH how fast the rest of the world follows our lead..and then if Iran STILL wants a bomb, the rest of the Planet can call them uncivilized on our behalf.
I don't care if Iran has a nuke anyway (and neither does Lindsey, if he stops to think about it). I care that they don't drop one on Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, and there's enough daylight between those two things that allowing the first does NOT guarantee the second.

(2,730 posts)the entire argument is. If Israel has 200 nuclear warheads already, what difference does it make if Iran even has one? The region is already unstable and gives one country the military advantage to threaten the rest.
The argument by the U.S. and Israel even gets more revealing, because the U.S. deploys nuclear weapons in different countries such as Turkey, under a NATO Treaty. And they are still holding Jonathan Pollard under the pretense he stole nuclear secrets and gave them to Israel, which makes me suspicious. Why did the U.S. decide to punish an individual instead of putting sanctions on Israel for espionage? It is a good cover if someone wanted to turn the blind eye to Israel getting a nuclear arsenal. It mkes the U.S. look like they are doing something about it.

(51,444 posts)from developing a bomb? All Iran would have to do is move all its development operations deep underground. All the US will accomplish is more death, destruction, hate, and the continued increase in that awful national debt, that the GOP is sooooo very concerned about.

(2,730 posts)that you see, wanting to discriminate against other Americans, are running the Government. You think they are only racist at home but not in the International arena? I pointed out Graham's friendly audience for a reason. His audience was Christians for Israel. THey are probably against abortion, voting rights and immigration rights too. They are our religious extremists. Just listen to someone like Sarah Palin. They operate from the premise of cultural superiority. If Iran got a bomb, it places them closer to equality which threatens their idea of superiority.
When you hear arguments from the right that Iranians or Arabs can't even build an airplane that flies, but on the other hand have the intelligence to build a nuclear bomb defeats the whole idea of racial superiority for these people. They keep bragging about Israelis' superior military but they aren't any smarter than any other people. They got that superior weaponry from the United States which has a history based on racism. Manifest Destiny, the Slave Trade,Civil War, and Civil Rights Movement all testify to that in our History, which many Americans want to deny. This is a country's government that once supported Apartheid South Africa over human rights. It took Civil Rights movements to change that Policy too, when many of the same people such as Lindsy Graham supported countries like South Africa. It may not have been Graham but the main supporters came from his rightwing constituents and many was on the religious right.

Oh, and don't forget about the extra security they'll use to take away more of our rights because they keep screwing around in the Middle East. The GOP will use the opportunity to keep us good and scared. The only thing we EVER have to fear is the GOP.
