The New York Post had a series of embarassing missteps this week about both the magnitude of the Boston bombing (they inaccurately reported 12 dead) and the players involved (they splashed two people on their front page who had nothing to do with the attack under the headline "Bag Men&quot , but owner Rupert Murdoch defended their coverage on Saturday.

All NYPost pics were those distributed by FBI. And instantly withdrawn when FBI changed directions.

Here's a link to an article reporting the editor of the NYP's response. Interesting what he doesn't come right out and report, the pics were LEAKED to the paper.

Post editor on “Bag Men” cover: “We did not identify them as suspects”

and their boss praised them so this is what we got, terrible news reporting being praised by their bosses and owners. So far NBC and MSNBC was mainly more factual in their reporting. They kinda reminded me of the old CNN.

Great moments (not) in journalism:
“We smell smoke, people running to the center, cars going straight, cars turning to the right,” [Deborah Feyerick] said, her voice straining with urgency, as a caravan of dark SUVs sped by. “Something has just happened. Police officers are running, we have a dog, a dog that’s on its way. Interesting, that dog is barking. Whether that’s a canine, we don’t know.” This is what the news has been like: reporters and producers focused on finding and transmitting action, even if that action is meaningless or indecipherable. In the rush to give the audience something new, CNN airs an Urgent News Report about a dog — excuse me, a possible dog — barking.
Someone cue James Earl Jones: "Something has just happened. We don't know. This is CNN."

I'm assuming you're referring to Murdock here, and he's the biggest part of the problem. In any bureaucracy, those down the food chain will only do what they know management will tolerate and approve. If any of the reporters and editors involved in this thought this kind of stuff would cost them their jobs, they wouldn't do it. The Post and Fox "News" gets away with the shit they throw because they know it's what Rupert wants.

the alleged culprit was brown skinned enough to make the connection. That's all that was needed by murdturd and his crew of 'journalists'.

"No self-respecting fish would want to be wrapped in a Murdoch paper", and "[H]is goal is not quality journalism. His goal is vast power for Rupert Murdoch, political power".
