JACKSON, Mississippi -- A Mississippi man has been sentenced to 10 months in federal prison for threatening to kill President Barack Obama and to blow up a hospital that refused to do surgery on his wife.
David Williams, 45, of Attala County in north central Mississippi, was arrested in July after University of Mississippi Medical Center officials in Jackson reported that he made the threat during an irate telephone call. He pleaded guilty Aug. 31 to two charges: threatening Obama and using a telephone to threaten to damage a building with explosives. He could have faced up to 15 years in prison.
U.S. District Judge W. Allen Pepper sentenced Williams during a hearing Thursday in Greenville. Williams also was sentenced to three years supervised release after he gets out of prison and ordered to take alcohol and anger management classes. He will get credit for about five months he's been held in jail, said Krisi Allen, a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office in Oxford.

(114 posts)The guy was distraught about his wife and threatened to blow up a hospital -- maybe or maybe not a case -- I don't know the particulars. But his adding a vague threat to "kill Obama" during his irate telephone call to the hospital, distraught about his wife -- that's a non-starter. How many people, when upset, have been heard to say, "I'm gonna kill ????", and it's obvious the statement is not a real threat, just venting frustration.

(1,416 posts)This could easily be McCain, Graham, or Lieberman. Perfectly okay if the hospital was in Iraq or other oil rich nation.
