Mitt Romney accuses Barack Obama of not understanding the American spirit

http://www.boston.com/Boston/politicalintelligence/2012/02/mitt-romney-accuses-barack-obama-not-understanding-the-american-spirit/CQtjrmkBNd4ycHljgpAXNI/index.html

LAS VEGAS - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney tonight accused President Obama of being naive and of not understanding the American spirit, delivering a sharp speech that included new criticism of the administration’s decision to detail its Afghan troop pullout schedule.

-snip-

Romney concluded by lauding innovators, pioneers, builders, and others with spirit “in their DNA.”

He said: “We share this spirit. I don’t think President Obama understands that. I don’t think he has the feeling of this American spirit that drives us to be successful and to innovate and to create. And by the way, the success of some does not make the rest of us poorer. The success of some makes us all better off.

“The president seems intent on dividing America, on replacing ambition with envy, on poisoning the very spirit of America by causing class warfare. This is wrong. What is right for America is to be united, to thank providence for the great blessing to be born here, and to recognize the responsibility we have to keep the light of the shining city on the hill bright.”

Romney's so delusional.

I have a special dislike of people like Mittens. A few years ago my company went through bankruptcy, many people lost their jobs, and our reputation was tarnished amongst our suppliers. All thanks to a corporate raider who was taking on huge debt in our companies' name and selling off profitable parts. I recently googled this asshole and see that he's at it again, another company his "investment" group bought declared bankruptcy a few months ago. What he's doing is identical to how Mitt made his money, sucking the life out of companies, killing jobs, screwing creditors, and pocketing millions. And none of it has anything whatsoever to do with innovating, pioneering, or building.

he must be another history revisionist. You know mitt, some of those innovators were "screwed" by the wealthy. Innovators who had their inventions stolen, innovators who made mucho dineros for the wealthy robber barons. And their wealth was made on the backs of labor, unless, they inherited it.

Another repug who wants us all to go back to those glorious gilded age days, where there were intolerable working conditions, low wages and the serfs knew their place; while some of those robber barons labored hard to find new ways to screw the people.

Oh, the good old days, I remember healthy, in the black american companies with generational happy employees before junk bonds and raiders like yourself. I remember healthy communities, instead of ghost town neighborhoods. So, mittens who are you really for, the american people and the country or your "friends" on wallstreet who'd sell out the country for a buck? Enquiring minds want to know.

yes, a lot of ninety-nine percenters would have preferred to be born in a country that has Single-Payer Health Care, for a starter...

Also, in a country where the gap between the 1% and the 99% doesn't grow wider each and every single year since the 1980s...

In a country where when you buy a house and finish paying it, no corporate 'person' can foreclose you based on forged documents...

Thieves, all.

. . . isn't that part and parcel the reason there ISN'T as much innovation as there COULD be .. . because people who would otherwise BE entrepreneurs have to stay in shitty jobs for the insurance and the health care costs would crush them if they struck out on their own?

Remove the dominant element of privatized for-profit health care from the mix and the US would no longer have the employers calling all the shots, particularly when it comes to wages and worker mobility.

And, don't overlook the coded language. "Doesn't have it in is DNA" translates to a black man is lazy, doesn't want to work hard and simply wants to take from others. It also sets him apart from others.

"As he explored joining the church in 1988, Perkins said he asked Mormons near his Los Angeles home about the racial doctrines. They gently explained that blacks were the cursed descendants of Cain, the biblical murderer, he recalls.

"'Let's say you have this powerful witness of God telling you that this church is truly of him," said the 48-year-old salesman and video producer. "And then the people in that church lovingly tell you that you are cursed. How do you reconcile those two things?"

"Perkins says Mormon leaders couldn't offer an answer.

"The LDS church has neither formally apologized for the priesthood ban nor publicly repudiated many of the theories used to justify it for more than 125 years."
