North Korea threatens war with South over U.N. sanctions
Source: Reuters
(Reuters) - North Korea threatened to attack rival South Korea if Seoul joined a new round of tightened U.N. sanctions, as Washington unveiled more of its own economic restrictions following Pyongyang's rocket launch last month.
In a third straight day of fiery rhetoric, the North directed its verbal onslaught at its neighbour on Friday, saying: "'Sanctions' mean a war and a declaration of war against us."
The reclusive North has this week declared a boycott of all dialogue aimed at ending its nuclear programme and vowed to conduct more rocket and nuclear tests after the U.N. Security Council censured it for a December long-range missile launch.
"If the puppet group of traitors takes a direct part in the U.N. 'sanctions,' the DPRK will take strong physical counter-measures against it," the North's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said, referring to the South.

(22,000 posts)The groups over here do them from time to time filled with stuff for North Koreans. Given Lunar New Year is coming up it's a great time to do it.
I personally like it because it's a way to slap them in the face.

N. Korea Faces China Aid Cut over Atomic Test
North Korea's sole major ally China will decrease aid to Pyongyang if it goes ahead with a planned nuclear test, state-run media said in an unusually frank warning on Friday.
China is the North's leading energy supplier and trade partner and is seen as one of the few nations able to influence Pyongyang's behavior, with the comments adding a distinctive edge to its typical official calls for stability and dialogue.
"If North Korea engages in further nuclear tests, China will not hesitate to reduce its assistance to North Korea," the Global Times said in an editorial. "Just let North Korea be 'angry'. We can't sit by and do nothing just because we are worried it might impact the Sino-North Korean relationship."
The same comments appeared in the Chinese version of the article. The paper is owned by the People's Daily, the official mouthpiece of the ruling party, and normally takes a nationalistic tone on foreign relations. The editorial came after Pyongyang reacted furiously to a U.N. Security Council resolution this week condemning its rocket launch last month and imposing expanded sanctions.

China had better watch out. NK is likely to consider any reduction in 'assistance' as a 'sanctions' and NK's leaders do not take kindly to the latter.
"Just let North Korea be 'angry'. - China may rue the day that they don't tremble at North Korea's 'anger'.

(2,730 posts)grand standing and beating their chests because they have a few nukes. A war would be devastating for both countries. They will just annihilate each other. The leaders of North Korea needs to grow up and quit throwing tantrums like children.
