Hugo Chavez 'improves slightly' after cancer surgery

Source: BBC News

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's condition has "improved slightly" after his latest operation for cancer in Cuba, Venezuela's information minister has said.

Mr Chavez underwent his fourth cancer operation on 11 December but suffered a respiratory infection.

The president, who has been in power since 1999, won another six-year term in October's presidential election.

Mr Chavez, 58, is scheduled to be sworn in on 10 January.

I just hate how the reich wing talk machine is making this man look like some sort of dictator. They will NEVER forgive him for calling out W as "el Diablo", which he in fact was not....Cheney was. But to me, he is what Venezuela needs - someone to knock the oligarchy down a few notches and returns the country TO THE PEOPLE. Plutocrats don't like that sort of threat.

So, good luck to you Hugo. You are a great man, and you have done many great things for your country, even though you did them in a more "direct manner" than the politicians up here in Amerikkka might approve of. I approve. Heal quickly! Your country needs you!

And I hate the way they are allowed to operate here. Everyone knows who they are and what they are, at least any thinking person does - it's obvious from the threads they start (nearly every one about Chavez), the schedules they keep, and the manufactured circle jerks they perform, with a sprinkling of "Venezuelans" who "live there" and "know what it's like to live under a dick-tater by God!". It's disgusting, they're like cockroaches, but unlike cockroaches, we can't spray them with poison and kill them.

VP says he spoke with Chavez, who is up, walking
Published: December 24, 2012

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro said late Monday night that he had spoken by telephone with President Hugo Chavez and that the leader is up and walking following cancer surgery in Cuba.

It was the first time a top Venezuelan government official had confirmed speaking personally with Chavez since the Dec. 11 operation. Venezuelan officials have given few specifics on Chavez's condition, and have yet to offer information on his long-term prognosis.

Maduro told state television station Venezolana de Television that the Christmas Eve conversation lasted about 20 minutes. He said the president was walking and doing some recovery exercises. He added that Chavez had given him guidance on budgetary matters for 2013.

"He was in a good mood," Maduro said. "He was walking, he was exercising."
