(11,182 posts)I do know as an employee they do not give a shit about me, but this will be a loud and clear message as a woman, within their company, how they choose to play this.

(1,350 posts)But there are some Fortune 25s that haven't caved, last time I checked, and I hope it stays that way. One large company I'm very familiar with hasn't always called their inclusion efforts DEI, but it's been in their DNA since the late 90s. They walk the talk. If they were to abandon it, that'd be absolutely shocking.
A few weeks ago, I got a notice that one of my senior leaders would be personally leading a DEI book club session in a few weeks, and not gonna lie, I fucking burst into tears at my desk. I work remotely, so nobody saw, but I'm not sure I would've cared if I'd been in the office.

(1,350 posts)They're my default, and it's only if there are no alternatives that I'll fly with someone else.
Their safety video is, IMO, a thing of beauty, and it's so cool and inclusive and just freaking nice that I actually watch the whole thing every time I fly.

(9,660 posts)given their past history of anti-LGBTQ stances, against gay marriage as I recall:
It has been and shall continue to be our policy that we do not discriminate in employment decisions or tolerate any form of harassment based upon sex, race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, pregnancy, age, physical and mental disability, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, military and veteran status and/or any other status, classification, or factor protected by federal, state, or local law.
Perhaps there is hope if even a conservative Christian-run outfit like this company is willing to stand up against Trump and for diverse and equitable hiring practices.

(9,660 posts)I was left stranded in the computer meltdown last summer and felt Delta didn't do enough to help me get a hotel or another flight.
But I'll forgive that and let them know I'll be flying them again since they've stood up for DEI when others cowardly dropped it.

(57,840 posts)That was their nonstop from Düsseldorf to Atlanta. MAN do I miss that flight! It was the last regularly scheduled nonstop flight from here to the USA to disappear after Covid, and it was always full. I hate always having to change planes going to and from the USA, but its either that or taking the train down to Frankfurt and flying from there.
Otherwise, Delta is part of Sky Team with Air France and KLM, so even when I book flights to the USA on AF or KL, half the time, its on a Delta plane. The food is usually better on Air France, but apart from that, there is little difference. Within the USA, I try to fly Delta, but they dont always fly the routes I need. If forced, we sometimes take United, Jet Blue or Alaska. The one airline we will never take again is American. If they were the only way back to Europe, Id first consider a rowboat. The only difference is that the rowboat probably offers better customer service.

(5,686 posts)My flights next week are all on Delta. I always try to fly Delta when I can, but corporate policies often force me to other airlines. Mostly use Delta and Southwest and avoid as much as possible, American, United, and all the low-cost carriers like Spirit & Frontier and others.
