John McAfee expresses wish to return to US amid extradition fight

Source: Reuters

US software guru John McAfee, fighting deportation from Guatemala to Belize to face questions about the slaying of a neighbour, said Saturday he wants to return to the United States.

"My goal is to get back to America as soon as possible," McAfee, 67, said in a phone call to Reuters from the immigration facility where he is being held for illegally crossing the border to Guatemala with his 20-year-old girlfriend.

"I wish I could just pack my bags and go to Miami," McAfee said. "I don't think I fully understood the political situation. I'm an embarrassment to the Guatemalan government and I'm jeopardizing their relationship with Belize."

The two neighbouring countries in Central America are locked in a decades-long territorial dispute and voters in 2013 will decide in a referendum how to proceed.

We have enough paranoiacs in the GOP, without you adding into the mix no matter what your politics.

McAfee's mistake was assuming that Guatemala wouldn't give Belize the time of day. Maybe he thought it would escalate into a replay of the Julian Assange crisis. But like Mitch McConnell, his got his bluff called -- buena suerte, Juan!

He can, however, move to Washington State or Colorado and smoke marijuana legally.

... McAfee said that in Guatemala, the locals aren't surprised when he says the Belizean government is out to kill him. "Instead of going, 'You're crazy,' they go, 'Yeah, of course they are,'" he said. "It's like, finally, I understand people who understand the system here" ...

During his three-week journey, said McAfee, he disguised himself as handicapped, dyed his hair seven times and hid in many different places during his three-week journey ...

Over the weekend, a post on McAfee's blog claimed that he had been detained on the Belizean/Mexico border. On Monday, a follow-up post said that the "John McAfee" taken into custody was actually a "double" who was carrying a North Korean passport with McAfee's name ...

"He is extremely paranoid. I would go far as to say even bonkers," said Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow, circling his index finger ...

Please don't send me to prison for murder in Belize.

Fuck you McAfee. You ran to avoid taxes here, you should suffer the consequences of that greed.
