JD Vance agreed with the notion that raising grandchildren was the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female, an unearthed 2020 podcast shows.
Vance also seemed to concur when the host suggested that having grandparents help raise children was a weird, unadvertised feature of marrying an Indian woman. It's the latest in comments from the Republican nominee for vice presdident about women and "traditional" roles that have drawn ire. Vance has faced intense criticism in recent weeks for previous sexist comments, including his remarks about "cat ladies."
Now, his appearance on ThePortal podcast with host Eric Weinstein in April 2020 has been thrust back into the limelight Vance spoke about his wifes Indian family, noting that they emigrated to the US about a year before his wife, Usha Vance, was born. He said at the time, her parents were devoted to Usha and their grandchild as well as to future grandchildren. The couple has three children, born in 2017, 2020 and in 2021.
You can sort of see the effect it has on him to be around them like they spoil him, he said of his first child. There's sort of all the classic stuff that grandparents do to grandchildren, but it makes him a much better human being to have exposure to his grandparents. He added: And the evidence on this is like super clear. Thats the whole purpose of the postmenopausal female in theory, Weinstein said at the time. Yes, Vance agreed.

(2,402 posts)that women's postmenopausal vigor may contribute to the welfare/survival/fertility of their descendants, thereby sustaining their contributions to the gene pool. (Why he thinks this is unknown and weird is beyond me.)
But part of that contribution may be as a reservoir of wisdom, which would be a gift that might be shared with members of society beyond her own descendants in a type of generosity and civic-minded-ness incomprehensible to the selfish republiKKKan mind. In more primitive times, that wisdom may have been "don't eat the purple berries from the plant with the long leaves", but in today's more complex, knowledge-based society, that wisdom may be "don't vote for Repukes".
And, of course, the underlying attitude of "these people should have rights only as long as they are of use to the rest of us." is typically and reprehensibly repukelican.

(5,215 posts)I raised all seven of my children to be self sufficient, That means they knew how to raise their own kids and their kids did the same. And on down the line. I never expected my mom to do it for me. If you and your wife were too lazy to raise your own kids, shame on you for expecting your mothers to do it for you. It is different if there is a health issue or something else of importance that prevents you from being able to do so yourself. From what I can see, your only reason was because you are too damn lazy. Have the kids, pat yourself on the back because it says you are a man and then prove you are not a man because you can't take on the responsibility that goes on with having kids. Keep running your mouth. It insures you will never be VP. That job takes on responsibilities , something you can't handle.
