my first takeaway was that they felt like there wasn't enough evidence but further into to article it seems like they were 'protecting' in Republicans involved,,,, I'll have to find another source to read it.

But it was the same crime in a different jurisdiction.

So, if I kill somebody in Texas and another one in Oklahoma, Ok. can't charge me?

The prosecutor's excuse is fucked up.

This makes sense. TSF is charged in both GA (state) and DC (Fed) for this crime, which could already pose a risk of double jeopardy. While others are charged again (i.e. Rudy), I think it has something to do with a different criminal act in a different state, while TSF's criminal behavior could be the same instance as what he is being charged for in GA and DC. It's complicated, but I think it was the DOJ who advised the AZ Prosecutor to avoid a double charge. Theoretically, it COULD give TSF a reason to have the charges thrown out and reap havoc with the process, causing even more unnecessary delays.

Just my (non-lawyer) informed opinion.

By limiting the case to the locals, they knew that they could get rapid convictions and set an example to any future election saboteurs. With TCF on the docket, the trial would have been delayed forever...and there's an election coming up!
