1,400 Black women sign letter of support for Biden, condemn lack of Democratic unity

Source: The Hill

More than 1,400 Black women and allies have indicated their support for President Biden and Vice President Harris in a letter released Thursday.

Highlighting the fact that millions of Americans cast ballots for Biden and Harris in the primary, the women said attempts to change the ticket “disregard” and “circumvent the will of millions of voters who participated in a democratic process.”

“The suggestion that any candidate who won their primary should simply step aside because victory appears difficult at the moment is disrespectful to the voters, unjust and undemocratic,” the women wrote.

The letter is signed by Black powerhouses like Carol Moseley Braun, the first African American woman elected to the senate; Keisha Lance Bottoms, former senior adviser to Biden and former mayor of Atlanta; and Melanie Campbell, president and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and convener of the Black Women’s Roundtable.

Combat was started by backstabbing bastards in the media, followed by cowards joining in the chorus.

The white monied Democrats are going to cause us to lose. Just donated to Biden/Harris and sent a message to my Congress critter. My vote counts and these wealthy donors would rather throw us into more chaos than save the Constitution.

Glad to see those women step up and I expect there will be more who will...

Biden has literally created not only the most diverse cabinet but has nominated and had confirmed, the most diverse set of federal judicial candidates in the history of this country.

An except from that letter -

“History also reflects that Black women are the most reliable voting Bloc for democrats. When black women vote in record numbers, democrats win The White House, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, governorships, state legislatures, mayors’ races and other local races across the nation. When black women lead, organize, mobilize, encourage and influence our families, spouses, partners, nieces, nephews and neighbors to own their power and vote, democrats win,”

I tried to find a PDF of it but haven't been able to and the link in the article pointed to by the OP won't embed properly (nor will the link tag work with it due to certain characters in the URL, which goes to an Adobe cloud PDF viewer).

Democratic Party do the same because of cold political perceptions and lack of faith in the American People's wisdom.

Thanks for the thread demmiblue.

I'm also a mutt... I have American Indian, Irish, Scots, English, French, and black in my background. The one thing that stands out about me is my jet black hair against a lily white skin that burns at the first kiss of the sun... Thanks to my Irish background. (At least it used to, before so much of it turned silver). But I'd very much like to state categorically that I stand with these women and would be humbled to call them "sister" if they'd allow it. Much better than the overblown stupid hype I've been hearing lately.
