CASA GRANDE, AZ (CBS5) - An explosion rocked the Social Security Administration building in Casa Grande on Friday morning.

The blast was caused by a device that detonated at the rear of the building, according to Agustin Avalos of the city of Casa Grande Police Department.

The explosion happened around 8:15 a.m. in a building that houses several other downtown businesses. All business were evacuated, Avalos said.

No injuries were reported and the type of device had not been determined, Avalos said.

get on it. Bring them down! Fear is the only weapon these type of assholes and groups have. Fight them tooth and nail. I have nothing but contempt for these type of idiots. Bring it! Oh and yeah, glad no one was hurt by these clowns.

The damage appears to be just charring, as if from a fireball.

Made to appear bigger than it probably deserves to be seen as because the target was federal property, which brings in the FBI, BATFE, etc., leading to knee-jerk declarations that it was an act of political terrorism.

It's not terrorism unless the perpetrators make their motives known. In the 1970s the reactionaries would have blamed the Symbionese Liberation Army or the Red Brigades or the Black Panthers. Now they blame right-wingers. SSDD.

...47-year-old Abdullatif Aldosary of Coolidge.

Now for the stereotypical commentary by a neighbor:

"He's pretty quiet. He don't really come out of the house," said neighbor Miguel Pascual.

It was a scene other neighbors tell CBS 5 they had witnessed before. They asked not to be identified.

Court records show Aldosary served prison time in Safford four years ago for aggravated harassment against his then employer Hunter Contracting in Gilbert, and he is currently involved in an assault and disorderly conduct case in Casa Grande.

"I was pretty shocked about it. Around this little town, who knows to expect something like this," said Pascual....

Convicted felon with a history of violence. My comment: Likely mentally ill, a sociopath or a paranoid schizophrenic, angry at the world. I'm glad he was caught so quickly and without incident. Hopefully he'll be put away for the rest of his life.

ETA - And nobody cares about the incident any more. I admit that MY guesses as to the motivation were wrong. Would anyone care to join me?
