March 28 (Reuters) - Donald Trump will be unable to match President Joe Biden's fundraising totals in this year's presidential election race, the Republican candidate's campaign said on Thursday. "We're never gonna be able to raise dollar for dollar with Biden," a Trump campaign adviser said in a call with reporters.
The adviser blamed the fundraising disparity on "billionaire" supporters of the Democratic president, and appeared keen to paint a picture of a Trump campaign fueled by grassroots, working-class supporters.
A second campaign adviser said Trump's campaign is "fueled by hundreds of thousands of grassroots contributors across the country, and I'd much rather have that because each one of those votes."
Asked for a response, Biden campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa said: "Trump's campaign is strapped for cash."

(39,546 posts)They like to tell themselves that the "lil guy's dollars" can beat Bidenomics, but if those ever could have, those already would have. They don't like to admit that "lil guy dollars" now go to finance legal costs for their criminal strongman.

the former president spent more than $90,000 a day on average on legal costs for more than three years although none of it was paid with his own money, but instead came almost entirely from donations raised as he fought against his 2020 election loss.
However, those accounts are nearly empty, so Trump must decide whether to pay his own staggering legal fees or find another source of financing.

(19,950 posts)but I like to think of the dollars raised as points, such as on Jeopardy. The person who knows the most gets more points
You are totally right that how much money a candidate raises is the wrong way to judge a candidate's merits. I hope President Biden and our team can shove back on the rampant greed in this country, that is much more apparent at the top than the bottom.
traitor's rwnj staff have it wrong again. Billionaires across the world are funding traitor, because they want someone in the Oval Office who will bow to them and their plans rather than to the base anywhere. traitor wants to be a billionaire and would rather force himself into their clique than a clique made from the base.

(4,706 posts)we all knew it was going to be the death of our democracy as soon as the SCOTUS allowed it as law. Now, we have the proof in the numbers and data... not to mention common sense!
If we can ever get the SCOTUS reformed, we might actually have a chance to argue that case again, or at least one that raises the same type of questions. With the make up of this court, however, there's not a chance on earth.

(36,505 posts)... because Chump will suck up all the available cash for himself. It's mostly going for his legal expenses NOT for his campaign. If I were a GOP donor I'd be royally pissed about this, but since I'm a Dem I can sit back and smile.

(459 posts)... he should have easy access to cash, right? Or can get it from his friends since he's such a swell guy. I mean, why not a little $100M injection of funds from Trump himself? That would double what Biden's got on hand. Trump's rolling in it, right?
In all seriousness: if spending your life's savings was the only shot you had at growing old in prison, how much would you be willing to dump?

(24,730 posts)and IMHO, they are getting tired of it, the constant demand for more money, and yet more money. It's never enough. Never. And they fell into the trap. Two that belong together in bed, tRUMP's idiotic donators, and tRUMP.
What happens after the election, when all is said and done, and tRUMP has lost yet another election? He'll have no more 'marks', and tRUMP truly will be wearing a barrel/the emperor w/ no clothes.

Hedge fund founder John Paulson is hosting a high-dollar fundraiser next month to benefit Donald Trumps presidential campaign that is drawing some of the Republican Partys wealthiest donors, according to an invitation obtained by CNN.
The price tag for the fundraiser ranges from $250,000 per person for those who serve on the host committee to $814,600 per person to serve as a chairman. Perks for those contributing at the top level include dinner seating at Trumps table, according to the invitation.

Contributions from the April fundraiser in Palm Beach will benefit the Trump 47 Committee, the joint fundraising operation established in recent days by the Trump campaign, the RNC and nearly 40 state party committees.
Save America, the Trump leadership PAC that has helped pay legal bills for the former president and his allies, is slated to receive a $5,000 share of contributions, according to the invitation.
