100-car pileup in Texas fog kills two, injures dozens
Source: NBC
Two people died and dozens were hurt Thursday morning when around 100 vehicles crashed in heavy fog along Interstate 10 near Beaumont, Texas, the local sheriff's office told NBC News.
Between 80 and 120 people were hurt, said sheriff's office spokesman Rod Carroll. Eight of the injured were in serious condition, he added.
Earlier reports said one person had died.
The chain-reaction accidents happened over a two-mile stretch between Taylor's Bayou and Hampshire Road. Both directions were closed for several hours before westbound lanes were reopened. Eastbound lanes were still closed.

(26,582 posts)The fog down there gets scary thick. I'm glad my mom and I didn't go down to visit family this Thanksgiving, we could easily have been caught in that accident.
