78-year-old allegedly shoots, kills neighbor who was trimming trees along their property linesThis discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Emile (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum). A 78-year-old Florida man allegedly shot and killed his neighbor who was trimming trees along their property lines, authorities said. The shooting was reported around 7:13 p.m. Sunday in DeLeon Springs, about 45 miles north of Orlando, the Volusia Sheriff's Office said. The victim, 42-year-old Brian Ford, was trimming tree limbs along the fence line between two properties when his neighbor, 78-year-old Edward Druzolowski, "confronted him about being on his property," according to the sheriff's office. Druzolowski later told police that "he threatened to shoot Ford, and when Ford didn’t leave, he shot him," the sheriff's office said in a statement. 2. I don't know about Florida, but in most states if your neighbor's tree limbs extend into ypur
property, you have a right to cut them. But how utterly ridiculous to murder a man simply for trimming tree limbs!

that they didn't need to investigate him for three years before they arrested him. Next thing you know, he will actually have to post bail to get out of jail. The world has gone crazy.

Did Ford tell Druzlowski he was going to trim the branches, and the old dude didn't remember? |

except it's remarkable that this geezer's aim was good, too good.
Chances are this was just a "MY trees, growing on MY property, you have NO RIGHT kind of thing. It's wrong, of course, anything going over the property line is fair game, but a lot of people of all ages don't know that. Florida has some of the stupidest laws in the country, so likely this bastard will get away with murder. |

18. dementia MIGHT have something to do with
making the "my property" issue a summary execution offense. i say that because of the last few "old man shoots trespasser" stories.
i don't think he will get away with this murder, even in florduh. there will be some legal consequences unless it's as i speculated. |

Who hasn't just shot someone over something completely peaceful and non-violent after issuing a threat?
Really, the neighbor bears some responsibility here. If he hadn't been standing there, the bullet wouldn't have hit him. /s |

25. True, but the police can probably tell due to where the boddy dropped.
Was noticing the news article did not mention race. In FL, that probably has an impact on how the shooter gets punished.

34. If you shoot someone, even in Florida, you have a lot of explaining to do to stay out of jail.
Even George Zimmerman had to go to court, fight for his freedom, and raise an ungodly amount of money to pay for his lawyers. Even then, the court's result was far from a sure thing, and he was very, very close to spending the rest of his life in the slammer.
That huge amount of publicity doesn't seem to be happening in this case, and he'll more than likely have to pay his lawyer's bills all by himself. After the criminal case, he's going to be civilly sued into oblivion by the victim's family. |

19. Yeah, that "better part of valor" thing...
That would be not referring to an elderly individual as an "old coot," in order to avoid getting shot to death.
In Florida, or anywhere else in the Excessively-Armed States of America. |

36. She was doing more than vaping....
taking flash pictures in a darkened theater, and being loud and obnoxious. That's just normal, everyday behavior for BoBo. She had her hand in her "date's" crotch, but the security camera didn't show if she had a handful of baloney, or not. Her "date's" hands appear to be caressing her tatas, but again, it wasn't clear on the security cameras pictures.
She's a class act all the way, and by "class act" I mean someone who thinks the back seat of a car is "luxury accommodations" and who can suck a golf ball through 50 ft. of garden hose. She hasn't matured one iota since she first dropped her drawers at 13 yrs. old. Republican men love her. 🙄 |
