Hunter Biden sues IRS over disclosures
Source: Washington Post
The lawsuit over IRS agent interviews with Congress and the press comes as a special counsel weighs charging him with tax crimes President Biden’s son Hunter Biden filed a lawsuit Monday against the Internal Revenue Service, charging that when agents who were investigating him told Congress and news reporters about their concerns that the case was not being managed properly, they violated his privacy rights as a taxpayer. The lawsuit comes amid criminal charges and escalating legal battles surrounding the younger Biden, a failed plea deal and a nearly five-year investigation into his finances, taxes and a gun purchase. Biden’s lawsuit says that while he has “all the same responsibilities as any other American citizen,” he also “has no fewer or lesser rights than any other American citizen, and no government agency or government agent has free reign to violate his rights simply because of who he is.” Biden charges in the lawsuit that when two IRS agents went to Congress and news organizations complaining of alleged mishandling of the investigation by Justice Department officials, they disclosed information about the investigation, and about Biden’s taxes, that the law aims to keep secret. 1. Good for Hunter Biden!!!
The man has had problems but he's resilient and doesn't deserve to be a political punching bag for the GOP's power grab.

11. A day of reckoning is coming for the terrorists, and justice for this brave private citizen.
Seems only the Courts are holding the whole thing from spinning into pieces, mass media has clearly decided to take a middle ground between democracy and fascist terrorism…Hunter should be a role model, recovered from the pits of hell, redeemed…but redemption is only for republicans…the mass media has that formula down pat.
Hate the mass media as much as the terrorism they enable…willingly and knowingly…they don’t seem to care we see them….need to make them care…protect democracy or die with it. |

15. Wouldn't a whistleblower disclose corruption
in the ranks of the place they are employed? This is not whistleblowing by IRS officials. This is an illegal leak. As a CPA dealing with the IRS for years and understanding the process to obtain access to taxpayer records, I find this appalling. I hope Biden wins!

18. But, didn't we learn,
In the investigation into trump's taxes, that Congress can legally get any taxpayer's return they want, and investigate? Wouldn't this fall under that? Of course, not applicable to Fox.

27. This isn't getting his tax returns
This is people revealing Biden's tax issues without those returns.
And Congress can't ask for just anyone's tax returns without a damned good reason, especially those of ***one*** private citizen. The IRS can't hand them over without a good reason, either. They all must follow a process, and I've heard nothing that indicates any of them have. |

The IRS gave the House Democrats Trump's taxes and they released them in December, 2022. Before that the New York Times released his taxes.
