White House says Iran is helping Russia build a drone factory east of Moscow for the war in Ukraine
Source: AP
By AAMER MADHANI an hour ago WASHINGTON (AP) — Iran is providing Russia with materials to build a drone manufacturing plant east of Moscow as the Kremlin looks to lock in a steady supply of weaponry for its ongoing invasion of Ukraine, according to a U.S. intelligence finding released by the White House on Friday. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said U.S. intelligence officials believe a plant in Russia’s Alabuga special economic zone could be operational early next year. The White House also released satellite imagery taken in April of the industrial location, several hundred miles east of Moscow, where it believes the plant “will probably be built.” President Joe Biden’s administration publicly stated in December that it believed Tehran and Moscow were considering standing up a drone assembly line in Russia for the Ukraine war. The new intelligence suggests that the project, in the Yelabuga region of Tatarstan, has moved beyond conception. Iran has said it provided drones to Russia before the start of the war but not since. ![]() Read more: https://apnews.com/article/russia-iran-drone-factory-ukraine-war-dfdfb4602fecb0fe65935cb24c82421a

Where the plant will probably be built…
The Pentagon really is itching for a war, any war. |

This is flaming and shows the lengths some will go to cash in on weapons stocks and getting medals and promotions. Meanwhile we have homeless in tents at home.

Let us remind the pro Putin GOPers that support for Russia is support for Iran.

5. Depends on the drones
but right now Russia is so far behind Ukraine that the war will be over long before they start to catch up, and then they'll still be behind. Iran is no great shakes, either, although they were ahead of Russia.
So the factory will near its startup date and someone will flip a cigarette butt into a pile of construction debris. Or the electricsl system will be sabotaged. Or the materials will be so shoddy because of corruption that the thing will just collapse. Or Ukraine will spend another of their souped up Soviet era glide bombs and take it out. Or since Iranian drones have been so easy to shoot down, even small arms fire has gotten them, everybody will just leave it alone, secure in the knowledge that ignorance and corruption will blow it up eventually with no effort on anyone's part. |

7. Russia can keep the war going as long as Putin feels like it.
Even if Ukraine drives them back over the border.
Just keep lobbing artillery, sending drones, launching missiles. Their soldiers are expendable and the supply of conscripts is endless. Iran's happy to help as long as the checks clear. It's just horrible. |

12. We need to use diplomacy and exchanges with Iran!
We need to use diplomacy and exchanges with Iran. After my visit in 2008 I realized that Iran is a lot like the US. It’s a modern scientific country with high levels of education. They do think differently as it’s a theocracy. The article is meant to stir up hate and fear on many levels and is sensationalist.

13. Imo, "We" (you) need to consider if YOU're willing to die
in the war you call for against Iran. Iran's a major military power, not up to our heft, but well able to kill you if they were to decide to reciprocate. And of course they would.
Other nations around the planet would also register their anxious disapproval and need to enact protections about our renegade behaviors (what tRump started continues). |

22. Anti-war comments not withstanding.....
It's easy to make them when you are sitting in a country that hasn't been on the front of any wars since Pearl Harbor and if you want to include 9-11, except the war being waged domestically by terrorists like the Proud Boys, KKK and Magats. If I were sitting in Ukraine waiting for my house to get blown up I would be of a different mindset.

23. +1 plus both regimes use sexual violence against women
as one of their main tools for maintaining power. Hiding behind these anti war comments are deep seated misogynistic beliefs from those who care little about the oppressed women in those countries. Those comments are truly disgusting.
