Trump aide Walt Nauta indicted in classified documents case
Source: CNN Politics
CNN An aide to former President Donald Trump has been indicted in special counsel Jack Smiths investigation into the mishandling of classified documents from the Trump White House, two sources familiar with the indictment tell CNN. Walt Nautas indictment is the second in the special counsels investigation after Trump was indicted on seven counts on Thursday.
An attorney for Nauta declined to comment. Nauta was with Trump at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club this week. The specific charges against Nauta have not been revealed. Trump responded to Nautas indictment on his social media Friday, writing, They are trying to destroy his life, like the lives of so many others, hoping that he will say bad things about Trump. He is strong, brave, and a Great Patriot. The FBI and DOJ are CORRUPT!
Nautas involvement in the movement of boxes of classified material at Trumps Florida resort had been a subject of scrutiny of investigators. Nauta, with the help of a maintenance worker at Mar-a-Lago, moved the boxes before the FBI executed a search warrant on the Palm Beach property last August.
According to court filings last year, the FBI found more than 100 documents marked as classified during the search, which took place weeks after a Trump lawyer signed a statement attesting that the Trump team had complied with a May subpoena seeking production of all documents with classified markings.

(11,356 posts)Those who were privy to J6 plans, including some in Congress who gave detailed and unauthorized tours of Congress to help them plan where to attack, committed crimes on behalf of Trump. They must know that he is loyal to no one but himself, yet they still do his bidding. To me, hes nothing but a repulsive corrupt grifter who has no redeeming qualities. Why do people worship him?

(91,261 posts)On MSNBC's coverage pointing out how they are both being charged with the same crimes. What they didn't say, but I think Lawrence was starting to lean toward, is that the judgement & sentences should be the same... but maybe not.
What occurred to me, though, is more about the SP's rationale in securing a conviction of -45. He has been charged in tandem with his valet who is unlikely to skate with this severity of criminality. If he's convicted and given a harsh sentence, it will be hard for a jury to find the orangeanus is less guilty and issued a lesser penalty. This would illustrate the equality in meting out justice, especially in this case. If one is taken into custody, then the other should too. With the severity of the crimes, this is the only fair way to pursue justice.
At least that's kind of what popped into my mind while listening to the speculations on the news.

(91,261 posts)An example, for everyone, of what equal justice under the law looks like. Boss and peon both "hanging together" so to speak. That should quell a portion of the blowback from the cult because they will further isolate themselves among us by standing with their political messiah.
The only other way it could go that would be acceptable, for me and hopefully many others, is for the peon to get a slightly lesser sentence since he was more of a useful tool who got real stupid and greedy. I wonder what compensation IQ45 offered him to leave his morality behind.
