Trump lawyers quit in documents case; Trump aide indicted
By Sarah N. Lynch June 9, 202311:56 AM EDTUpdated a few seconds ago WASHINGTON, June 9 (Reuters) - Two lawyers defending Donald Trump quit the case on Friday, one day after the former U.S. president was indicted on federal charges of illegally retaining classified documents, obstruction and other crimes. The Wall Street Journal at the same time reported that Trump's former military valet, Walt Nauta, had been charged alongside Trump. Nauta went to work at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort after working in the Trump White House. Nauta's lawyer, Stanley Woodward, declined to comment when contacted by Reuters. The surprise announcement by Trump's lawyers John Rowley and Jim Trusty could prompt further legal complications ahead of Trump's scheduled appearance in federal court in Miami on Tuesday in the documents case. "This morning we tendered our resignations as counsel to President Trump," the two lawyers said in a statement. "It has been an honor to have spent the last year defending him, and we know he will be vindicated." Trump said on social media that he was being represented by white collar defense lawyer Todd Blanche. 13. I think most likely they assess case as clearly guilty, like open-and-shut guilty even
I don't know but it seems Smith's team has vaporized defenses to certain crimes by going after these particular 7. From analysis leading up to this in the media, I think the rump has effectively admitted to one of them on tape and was given multiple chances to avoid others. Instead of doing the honorable, obvious thing to do like Pence and Biden, to simply given them back, he directed subterfuges to obstruct their retrieval and investigations. What lawyer wants to be on such a lop-sided losing end? Well, I suppose, the kind of lawyer that now has all of the rump's major cases consolidated under him. |

19. Or maybe he threw a tantrum, called them names, and threw ketchup on them.
Or perhaps they will be called as witnesses for the prosecution, or they have their own potential criminal liability resulting from their relationship with the Great Corruptor.
Or maybe he continues to lie to their faces and they are sick of dealing with his backstabbing, self-serving bullshit. |

and previously-resigned Parlatore was on MSNBC Wednesday as well.
for lawyers who're not on the team, they're sure carrying *'s water. I guess they figured they need real lawyers now. |

We can hope. That's how it works in the rest of the world.
It's starting to look like he's not getting the top shelf representation anymore. The big guns often take a case like this to make a name for themselves if they think they can win. If they fail, it does the opposite. He's not far from hiring Jeanine Pirro or Judge Judy. |

Stating that the Venue location was an obvious problem in itself (DC) case would be dismissed.
When all along there was an impaneled GJ in Miami! Whining the case against tfg was ridiculous not at all criminal. blha blah blah. Carrying buckets of water for that psychopath. I am curious, how come these fabulous mobster lawyers didn't know that, I wonder. |

9. If they were going to do it,
they needed to do it before the notice of record was filed in the court. Otherwise, they would have to get the court's permission to quit.
Then, too, Defendant 1 isn't your typical criminal client.......yeah, maybe the check bounced.... |

15. Trusty and Rowling are being strategic here, helping Blanche delay the trial as long as possible on
the pretext that he has too much to do alone. Which he does. But still, this probably got hammered out at Bedminster when the first indictment came in.

but even then, he'll have a hard time retaining any of them. He doesn't listen. No one can tell him "no." No one can tell him to for krissakes, shut the hell up for a while. He will sabotage his own case on a daily basis.
