Canadian fires polluting New York City air continue blazing out of control

Source: New York Daily News

The Canadian wildfires choking New York City with smoke continue raging with no end in sight.

At noon Wednesday, nearly 150 fires were tearing through Quebec, “most of them out of control,” according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

Firefighters from the U.S., Mexico, France, Spain and Portugal are expected to join smoke eaters in the burning province, which hopes to put 1,200 people on the ground to battle the blazes — nearly double the firefighters currently in the fight.

1. It's going to continue probably until fall, unless North America gets widespread, significant rain.

That was the prediction of an expert on AlJazeera Newshour today. With El Niño starting, he said it was highly unlikely.

4. Thank you to the U.S., Mexico, France, Spain and Portugal for the

firefighters. We can't do this alone. I stepped outside (Ottawa) for a second today and everything is "foggy". I had not been outside since Sunday. Fires are hundreds of miles away. Stay indoors and wear N95 masks.

5. It has been unpleasant in Ottawa this week.

We're sitting right underneath the Quebec wildfires, so everything you're seeing down in the U.S. goes over us first.
We immediately exhausted all the setting on the Pollution Index thingie.
Kids are inside for all recesses and we're all hoping the gov't actually put enough filtration into schools during covid that this all works out.

11. So sorry to hear this.

It's not bad (yet) in Boston, but we are still advised to stay indoors and wear an N95 if going outside, and keep windows shut. I hope you all get through it with no ill effects. Praying for a big rainstorm!

6. Good thing a lot of us were smart enough to order N95s

and kept on using them, or at least know how to use them and why they are the best and will continue to use them for various health benefits in the future.

Or will the right-wing/nut job mommies start bitching, "How DARE you suggest how I raise my child and dictate your views on us, etc"... blah blah blah. When they get sick from smoke they will blame everyone else for their own lack of brain matter. Since this is mainly occurring in the Northeastern states, the Dem voters will be less asinine than their GQP counterparts are.
