McConnell released from inpatient therapy after concussion, fractured rib

Source: ABC News

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has completed inpatient physical therapy and will continue recovering at home for the next few days, according to a statement from his office. McConnell, 81, was in physical therapy recovering from a concussion and a fractured rib following a fall earlier this month in Washington, D.C.

"I want to sincerely thank everyone for all the kind wishes. I'm happy to say I finished inpatient physical therapy earlier today and I'm glad to be home," McConnell said on Saturday. "I'm going to follow the advice of my physical therapists and spend the next few days working for Kentuckians and the Republican Conference from home. I'm in frequent touch with my Senate colleagues and my staff. I look forward to returning in person to the Senate soon," he added.

McConnell did not elaborate on the timing for his return.

A McConnell aide said given the proximity to the upcoming State Work Period, McConnell will work from home this week and consult with his physical therapists on an in-person return date to the Senate. McConnell was hospitalized for five days after he fell at the Waldorf Astoria while attending a private dinner on March 8.

He's definitely evil enough! Did they ever find out what he did with the GOP campaign funds? They probably admire people more when they steal. Nothing would surprise me about them.

10. He tried to dig Turtle out of his shell "early" so he could be the new owner

(with some help) but was unable to get past that automatic shell lock feature.

And wonder if he did the same as Michael Steele did with those funds? It's bad enough that he blamed some of the missing money on "unauthorized bonuses before he took over".

14. Looks like they're headed for a split.

That’s so sad. I hate it for them. Looks like Republicans are in disarray! If they knock the Turtle out of his shell, I think the Turtle will sabotage them. He’s vindictive like that. After all, the party before Trump was McConnell’s creation. You can tell he’s disgusted with them. And I shouldn’t be surprised that Scott is trying to oust him. He’s a Trump-loving criminal, so he’s a good representative of the GOP. And he’s from Florida, so that’s another thing.

44. all members of Congress are required to choose from ACA

plans as offered on healthcare.gov Of course many of them do not have to worry about the $$ for deductible, co pays and non covered items, but they do not have other plans to choose from
they must choose a plan that is offered on the ACA plans.

Now here is a question: if they are trepresenting a state which has not accepted the expanded Medicaid, are they restricted to the plans which are offered in their state?

I suspect there is a choice of plans which are available in DC to keep it equal amongst all members of Congress.

Regular normal Federal employees will have a number of commercial plans all of which must follow ACA rules.

18. Speak for yourself.

Son and I went to the dentist.

I paid a small charge (tax-deducted) last fall for our visit. This spring, he had a balance, I paid $20.

Tests, two doctor visits ... $40 in copays. Total. I used my tax-deducted account.

I am a public high school teacher. While I don't think I'm oppressed, I've been told on this score I'm an idiot.

I've agreed. My oppressors are students and the occasional parent or admin.

The responses have not been

Yet, truth be told, that's the truth.

I may evaluate teachers for "best in TX" but, you know, I'm in my 60s, divorced, kid's left, and I'm old and lonely and tired and don't much care. (I *do* care about curriculum. And rewrote it, with 3 others, for courses I taught ... for the effing *state*--and will indifferently fail those kids--25% of my seniors--who can't comply. To their shock. Change is hard. But, as my mother said, voting straight ticket for (D) presidents/etc. from 1949 to her last aware conversation, "Change is good." (It's a horrible mindlessly meaningless phrase, and when Reagan won I quote it back to her and she didn't speak to me for months! It really is shorthand for "change I want is good!" and imposes a presumed universal judgement, demagogically, on diagreers.)

22. If I were one of his constituents, I would be calling for a public appearance...

At his age with a concussion, there is no telling what shape he's in. Can he speak or communicate? His he doing his job representing the people of Kentucky? What's the long-term prognosis? If he can't do the job, he needs to resign.

I was living in IL for part of the time when Mark Kirk was out recovering from a stroke. He was out for a year. Granted Pat Quinn (D) was governor and Kirk knew he'd be replaced by a Democrat. Still, he did a disservice to IL voters by clinging to the seat.

23. I remember that.

I resented Kirk for staying in the office.

Concussions are no joke. I fell last July and had a concussion. I am 74. It took me a while to recover. I was in the hospital for several days. I fell again, simply because I was still unsteady on my feet for awhile. I was not injured the second time. They kept me in the hospital overnight.

I hope he recovers fully. But it is time for him to retire.

Turtles are the only known animal on earth that forms a shell on the outside of its body through a fusion of modified ribs, vertebrae, and shoulder girdle bones.
