McCarthy calls for House investigations as Republicans slam potential Trump indictment
Source: Politico
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Saturday said he would direct House committees to investigate the Manhattan district attorney’s potential prosecution of former President Donald Trump. Trump on Saturday predicted on Truth Social that he would be arrested next week in the probe over his handling of a hush-money payment during his 2016 presidential campaign, prompting a slew of Republican allies to express their outrage. McCarthy said the Manhattan DA’s move would be “an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,” and said that he is “directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.” Rep. Chip Roy said an indictment of the former president would be “politically-motivated” — a symptom of what Roy called a “politicized ‘justice’ system that will be (is being) weaponized against ALL Americans.” Read more: https://www.politico.com/news/2023/03/18/republicans-trump-indictment-mccarthy-00087741

I'm sick to death of these Republican hypocrites and their endless trips to kiss Trump's pasty white ass. I just heard lyin' Lindsey Graham whining like a little girl about the impending charges and arrest of the orange dung pile.
One day I hope they all rot like chunks of meat in the blistering desert sun. |

There's bank fraud, tax fraud, obstruction of justice, etc, but we're gonna start with Trump paying off a woman to keep quiet about a 90 second affair? Most people are going to look at Stormy like they did the Monica Lewinsky case

House GOP chairmen ask Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg to testify on Trump probe
WASHINGTON — Three House Republican committee chairmen on Monday called on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to testify before Congress "about what plainly appears to be a politically motivated prosecutorial decision" in any potential indictment of former President Donald Trump in the prosecutor's hush-money probe, according to a letter sent to Bragg. "You are reportedly about to engage in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former president of the United States and current declared candidate for that office," the letter, obtained by NBC News, says. It comes ahead of a pending New York grand jury decision in the case. "This indictment comes after years of your office searching for a basis — any basis — on which to bring charges, ultimately settling on a novel legal theory untested anywhere in the country and one that federal authorities declined to pursue," they continued. "If these reports are accurate, your actions will erode confidence in the evenhanded application of justice and unalterably interfere in the course of the 2024 presidential election." The letter was signed by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.; and House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil, R-Wis. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/house-gop-chairmen-ask-manhattan-d-a-alvin-bragg-to-testify-on-trump-probe/ar-AA18RdnG |
