Penn Law to sanction professor who said U.S. 'better off' with fewer Asians
Source: NBC News
Wax said early this month that the U.S. is better off with fewer Asians and less Asian immigration. Dean Ted Ruger said in a statement Tuesday that he had received multiple complaints since 2017 citing Waxs behavior as disruptive to students and the school community.
Professor Amy Wax has repeatedly made derogatory public statements about the characteristics, attitudes, and abilities of a majority of those who study, teach, and work here, Ruger wrote. The complaints assert that it is impossible for students to take classes from her without a reasonable belief that they are being treated with discriminatory animus.
Ruger released a statement on the universitys website two weeks ago condemning Waxs comments as thoroughly anti-intellectual and racist. A spokesperson for the university declined to comment further.

(11,862 posts)Or does tenure allow her to spew racist statements and still remain employed?

(27,049 posts)Having tenure simply means you cannot be fired without due process.
If you are found to be in violation of your contract, you can be fired.
The contract includes all policies of the institution, so if there is anything in the behavior policy she is in violation of, she can be fired.

(5,639 posts)Both were two of the worst "laws" ever passed and signed in American history.
Others include:
Fugitive Slave Act
1864 Arizona Territory Abortion Law
Plessy v. Ferguson
Dred Scott V. Sanford
McCarran-Walter Act of 1952
You know what all of these have in common? they are all steeped in racism and bigotry. Just like what you are, skeezix!

Granted professors do need freedom to teach however there are some lines that should not be crossed by anyone be it a professor, a grade school teacher or even somone simply working at a fast food joint.

(17,136 posts)Amy Wax, a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania, said Black people harbored "resentment" over Western achievements in a viral interview with Fox Nation host Tucker Carlson.
The controversial lecturer said on Tucker Carlson Today on Friday: "I think there is just a tremendous amount of resentment and shame of non-Western peoples against Western peoples for Western peoples' outsized achievements and contributions. I mean, it's really unbearable.
