Several Hundred Detained as Russians Protest Mobilization

Source: Moscow Times

Several hundred people have been detained across Russia on Wednesday as rallies against a military mobilization declared by President Vladimir Putin for the war in Ukraine took place in areas from the Far East to the capital Moscow.

According to the independent OVD-Info police monitor, at least 525 protesters have been detained nationwide so far with at least half of the count recorded in the capital Moscow.

The Vesna opposition movement as well as supporters of jailed Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny called on Russians nationwide to take to the streets on Wednesday evening to oppose the Kremlin’s decision to bolster its forces in Ukraine with a “partial” mobilization.

The first protests took place across cities in Siberia and the Far East, where dozens were arrested, often just minutes after the rallies began, according to local reports.

8. Well, when they've had enough and dare the cops to arrest them all

Until then, civil disobedience is going to have to be massive. Or they'll do what the Ukrainians did and dig up the pavement fto have something to throw.

My guess is that demos will grow, not that we'll hear a lot about it. Neither will the government, cowering behind those 11-21 foot thick walls around the Kremlin.

It's wild that the demonstrations are starting in the east, not in the big cities. That says a lot, not sure what yet, but a lot about where most of the country is. Looks like their bullshit factory is missing its target.

4. Mobilized to fight mobilization.

The war has been going on for 7 months and they only protest when there's a threat to their own freedom. What about the poor bastards that already went and never came back (I know a lot of those guys WERE bastards, but a lot weren't)?

7. History

is replete with fascist dictators who were defeated by the wars they started. Is another one soon to bite the dust bin of history? Hope reigns supreme. Another good thing. It's one country the Orange Menace will not be able to escape to.
