Bill Maher: GOP brand is ‘pink slime’

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by muriel_volestrangler (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Politico

Maher wrote that Mitt Romney pivoted to the middle after the GOP primaries more so than other politicians have in the past, and he critiqued a Michele Bachmann campaign ad in which the tea party star called herself an “independent voice.”

“Wow. …I’m just saying. When even Michele Bachmann can’t run as a proud Republican, your brand identification has reached ‘pink slime’ territory,” Maher wrote, referring to the processed food additive that created a consumer uproar.

As for Romney, Maher wrote: “Mitt Romney lost because of the Republican brand and Republican policies.”

The host of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” added: “There are other reasons, of course, like, Mitt being unlovable to anyone not named Ann Romney, but nothing trumps the idea that 2/3rds of America thinks the other 1/3 is a frightening conglomerate of Bible-thumpers, xenophobes and vaginophobes. (Not a word, but should be.)”

seem to be limited to failure of campaign tactics, personalities and planning.

It sounds a lot like a marketing department trying to come up with a "New advertising strategy" after the last ad campaign for "Shit Cola" failed again.

This is opinion written by Maher on his blog, not news. It would be better in GD, Politics 2012 or Good Reads. Thank you.
