Surging GOP candidate Kathy Barnette has long history of bigoted statements against gays and Muslims
Source: CNN
Surging Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Kathy Barnette has a history of anti-Muslim and anti-gay statements. In many tweets, Barnette also spread the false conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama is a Muslim. In one speech uploaded to YouTube in 2015, Barnette forcefully argued it was OK to discriminate against Muslims and compared rejecting Islam to "... rejecting Hitler's or Stalin's worldviews." In comments on her radio show, she said accepting homosexuality would lead to the accepting of incest and pedophilia. One post she wrote called a transgender person "deformed" and "demonic." [snip] "Two men sleeping together, two men holding hands, two men caressing, that is not normal," she said on her radio show in July 2015, when a Supreme Court ruling cleared the way for same-sex marriage. On the same show, Barnette argued accepting same-sex marriage would lead to a "slippery slope" of accepting incest and pedophilia, in an episode that was deleted from her SoundCloud page after CNN's KFile reached out to the Barnette campaign for comment. 26. That's all they have to do it seems.
Policy is irrelevant to Republican voters. It’s all about playing to their base emotions. If they had a better candidate, a decent candidate, there’s no way for them to win.
The worst part is, these evil people win. If the gop takes back power they have to appease the whack jobs and the country dies a little more. This particular candidate probably won’t win but the others aren’t any better. |

He's been suicidal and lies about his college credentials, been violent to women...but he's a repub so I guess that's what they want.

6. But wait, there's more. A Philly Inquirer Alert that I literally just got and read the article
The ‘knives are coming out’ for Kathy Barnette as Republicans, and Trump, scramble to stop her
The frenetic moment was embodied by a statement from former President Donald Trump, who urged Republicans to support Mehmet Oz, but also predicted a bright future for Barnette. by Jonathan Tamari, Julia Terruso, and Ryan W. Briggs Updated an hour ago Pennsylvania’s Republican Senate primary is in chaos. Kathy Barnette’s late surge has turned the nationally watched race into a mad scramble, with former President Donald Trump warning Republicans against nominating her and opponents only now doing basic background research in an attempt to stop her as the clock ticks closer to Tuesday’s primary. Such vetting, usually strategically unspooled over the course of a lengthy campaign, rolled out in frenetic bursts at a range of disparate targets Thursday. The rush to find anything to puncture Barnette’s story came as she threatened to overtake longtime GOP front-runners Mehmet Oz and David McCormick, who have spent tens of millions of dollars on the campaign but failed to pull away. The haphazard moment was embodied by a Trump statement urging Republicans to support his endorsed candidate, Oz, but also predicted a bright future for Barnette, a conservative commentator and a prominent election denier with a trail of incendiary comments, including some targeting gay and transgender people and Muslims. “Kathy Barnette will never be able to win the General Election against the Radical Left Democrats,” Trump said. “She has many things in her past which have not been properly explained or vetted,” he added, “but if she is able to do so, she will have a wonderful future in the Republican Party — and I will be behind her all the way.” Barnette, 50, brushed off the attack during a campaign stop Thursday night at the Southampton Fire Department in Bucks County. “We know that President Trump did not mince words,” she told reporters after the event, though media were largely barred while it took place. “I think that letter was favorable. And I look forward to working with the president.” She agreed with a suggestion that being targeted was confirmation of her rise. “There’s a reason we have the words swamp creatures,” she had told the crowd earlier, according to a recording made by reporters who were briefly inside but forced to leave. ”The long knives are coming out at this point, and I had the best day of my life today.” (snip) https://www.inquirer.com/politics/election/kathy-barnette-oz-mccormick-attack-pa-senate-20220512.html ![]() |

19. The panic by the PA GOP - at least based on what is being characterized by the local media here
is really kicking into high gear.
The Primary is this coming Tuesday (May 17) and since they claim that most GOP voters "vote in person", they are trying to herd their loon followers into their own designated cattle chute, which is hard when you have 45 out there making pronouncements and the candidates jockeying for his recognition. What is wild to see (like we saw with Kevin McCarthy at the federal level) is that they KNOW all their "rhetoric" is complete bullshit babble and some of what we are now confirming as "the establishment GOP" have finally reached a "breaking point" enough to admit it "out loud". Yet THEY created this mess by continuing to promote and amplify the CT, lies, and crazy talk. And just as a note - for the past couple weeks, I have been getting incessant daily (or even multiple-times-a-day) canvassing calls from both the NRSC and the NRCC on my landline. But thanks to DU years ago, I had been pointed to the availability of one of those call screen/block devices ( "Digitone" ) that has been a lifesaver ever since, and I even got the "Pro" version not long ago. I was able block out the whole area code/exchange for their calls. And these weren't just taped robocalls. These were actual "people". They will get a phone pickup with silence that lasts for 8 seconds and then a hang-up and I only hear 1 ring on any phone not directly connected to the device (I have the thing on my bedroom landline phone and doing that suppresses the ring on that phone). |

the Putin party establishment is going to make sure that hedge fund CEO McCormack wins the nomination. Millions of dollars are being poured into his campaign. I will be shocked if anyone other than McCormack wins. McCormack fares better against Fetterman in the general election. I hope I am wrong because Fetterman crushes all of the other nut jobs.
