Trump's 'Crown Jewel' Sign Torn Down As New Owners Claim Flagship D.C. Hotel
Source: HuffPost
The signs at the Trump International Hotel in Washington ― once described as the “crown jewel” of Donald Trump’s real estate empire ― came down Wednesday night just hours after new owners took control over the property. CGI Merchant Group, an investment firm that includes former MLB superstar Alex Rodriguez and former boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, struck a deal last year to buy the hotel for $375 million. The deal closed Wednesday ― and the signs came down shortly afterward: The property lost $70 million during the Trump presidency, but The Washington Post said the sale will yield about $100 million in profit for the former president. ![]() Read more: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-hotel-sign-down_n_627c9ccbe4b016d742f6e4ae

1. Everyone he owes money to should sue.
Right now. Including the contractors he stiffed in 2017 that worked on this building.

2. You could make some cash by putting it behind a fence
with a urinal collector underneath it. I would pay $5 for that opportunity.

4. Good one...
... A-Rod and company donate it to a NY state prison. And for, "fiscal budgetary reasons, the sign will be left outside the main entrance as a wind break".

8. Isn't the old post office building gov't property?
I was under the impression that Trump leased the building through GSA, even though elected officials were expressly prohibited by law from doing so. So how does Trump manage to sell the hotel for profit?

12. He didn't sell the building. He doesn't own it.
He sold the lease. I'm not sure how the guys with contractor liens can collect. Usually, the property has to sell for liens to be paid. The deal here is, the loans he took out for the remodeling have to be paid first and he gets the rest. Probably $100 million.

It's a beautiful building, in and out. I'm happy the stench of TFG has been removed.

fine as a punishment for some of his crimes.

As a Waldorf Astoria... I'll be sure to drop by next time I'm in town. |
