President Biden is expected to announce more than $1 billion in Ukraine military aid from the $13.6 billion in aid that was passed by Congress, U.S. officials told The Wall Street Journal.
The U.S. will be providing antiarmor and antiair systems to Ukraine with the $1.01 billion taken from the more than $13 billion package.
The systems will include air defenses such as Javelins and Stingers that the U.S. says Ukraine needs, according to the Journal.
Biden could reportedly announce the aid as soon as Wednesday, as fighting intensifies between Russia and Ukraine.

I'm using The Hill's story because of the WSJ's paywall.

(18,946 posts)but there was a reporter on Chris Hayes who gets updates from Estonia, I believe. He claims that Russia is hurting more so than is being reported. Not only are they losing equipment, they are abandoning equipment and Ukraine is confiscating it. He also claims that the media is way off base claiming that Russia is close to encircling Kyiv, he says that is totally false and for an example he stated if Kyiv were encircled those 3 leaders who took the train to Kyiv would have never been able to get there.
The guy sounded like he had good contacts.
Keep sending those Javelins, Stingers, and drones.

(18,946 posts)I have no idea what the article is saying. Congress just passed 13.6 billion in aid to Ukraine, of that 13.6 billion, 6.5 billion is going directly to Ukraine's defense department. The article makes it sound like only 1 billion is going to military aid.
The Hill is the rag that hired John Solomon.
President Biden pledged to get the military aid to Ukraine in a matter of days not weeks. I have no clue what this article is about, unless president Biden is adding another billion, but the article doesn't say that.
