IBEW Members Respond to Hurricane Sandy

Source: IBEW

IBEW members from throughout the country are pitching in to restore power and fix damaged infrastructure.

“Devastating,” Wall, N.J., Local 1289 Business Manager Edward Stroup, III, says about Sandy.

Stroup represents workers at Jersey Central Power and Light – a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. – which provides power to more than 1 million central New Jersey residents. He says:

There are houses that have been totaled, houses that are almost beyond repair, massive infrastructure problems – it’s a huge mess.

I was worried they were going to change it this year, because my precinct remained listed on the "to be determined" list for a long time at the Board of Elections website. Then a couple of weeks ago they settled it: I'm happy to be able to walk over to the IBEW hall again.

When I go there to vote on Tuesday, I'll be thinking of all those workers putting things back together in the NE.

I will have pics after I get back to Florida and transfer them from my phone to my laptop so I can upload them.

I am a 40 year member of the IBEW, now retired but still paying dues to a cause I truly believe in.
