Spanier facing charges in Penn State University abuse case

Source: Pittsburgh Post Gazette

State Attorney General Linda Kelly is expected to announce today that former Penn State University President Graham Spanier has been charged in relation to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, according to sources close to the investigation.

The sources, who requested anonymity, said Mr. Spanier is charged with perjury and obstruction of justice.

The longtime Penn State president was forced to resign in the wake of charges being filed against Sandusky a year ago and has been long identified as a target in an investigation of a possible coverup by university administrators.

In the grand jury presentment returned on Sandusky in November 2011, the document noted that Mr. Spanier "denied being aware of a 1998 University Police investigation of Sandusky for incidents with children in football building showers."

why is time and money being wasted on this third party instead of prosecuting someone who actually abused children? While he is guilty, it seems petty to punish this guy instead of the men who actually did those horrible things. How many guilty men are going to remain free and able to abuse because the resources are being spent on this guy?

think are innocent. Look at it this way. This guy knew about what Sandusky was doing to a boy in the gym showers in 1998. Not only did he not do anything but he let it continue. So because he did nothing many more boys were raped by Sandusky. Do you really thing it's a waste of time to go after the enablers? If anything, they're even more guilty of the crimes because they knew about them but allowed them to continue. I imagine that's a pedophile's dream come true. Because Sandusky knew for sure that raping boys in the University gym showers was a 'safe place'.

I'm pretty sure pedophiles like those 'safe places'.
