Supreme Court rejects bid to block mask mandate on airplanes

Source: The Hill

The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a request to block a federal mask mandate for air travel.

The emergency application was filed by a father on behalf of himself and his 4-year-old autistic son, both of whom claim to be medically incapable of wearing masks for extended periods.

Their request was filed to Justice Neil Gorsuch, who handles emergency applications arising in several Western states, and he referred the matter to the full court. The justices denied the request without comment or noted dissent.

Under an executive order signed by President Biden, the Transportation Security Administration requires passengers on airplanes and other public transportation to wear masks to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, which has killed more than 850,000 in the U.S.

he comes from a 4-gen stupid-wealthy family making their fortune in selling luxury ski apparel in Vail, CO.

Yup, his direct relation family makes money on selling high-priced masks that you could wear all the day long if you're on the slopes.

when she was found in contempt of Congress after she illegally withheld Superfund money from California.

In 1982, Congress charged that the EPA had mishandled the $1.6 billion toxic waste Superfund by taking certain inappropriate and potentially illegal actions including withholding disbursements in order to affect a California political campaign. When Congress demanded records from Gorsuch, she refused and as a result became the first agency director in U.S. history to be cited for contempt of Congress.[8][9]

The reason they struck down Biden’s large employer mandate is because they don’t believe the president has the power to mandate such a thing for employers. If anything, it is a pro business decision, not a Pro COVID decision.

Same thing happened with the federal mandate where federal government is the employer or the NYC case, they refused to rule on those just like this one. They think the employer has the power to make these decision, not the government/president. If anything, the republicans justices didn’t make COVID a special case as a health emergency that it is. But they aren’t really pro COVID or against COVID. They just ruled on them as if COVID is a non issue.

the true republican agenda. That's why they will be pro virus to end the likes of OSHA..Today they're deciding if Boston must fly a huge Christian flag on city property. Gee, wonder how the Justices will rule. Soon they will take up a case to dismantle ICWA only because it works too well. Too much valuable commericial real estate (oil and gas) sits unused on Indian land and keeping Indian families together only perpetuates that "problem."

They are partisan hacks with two agendas, corporate and white Christian interests, both fly in the face of the Constitution but who cares? not the 6 hacks.

In both cases, it's the crowding that causes the danger. But people don't absolutely HAVE to fly on airplanes -- there are alternatives, including Zoom. But when people are REQUiRED to show up in person to work, as they must be at all factory jobs, it's the work requirement that brings the added danger, and refusing to work brings jeopardy to one's livelihood -- it's a choice without much choice.

The SCOTUS would appear to be following contradictory logic to reach contradictory rulings.

I think this is what GOP-SCOTUS is following. But it sure is not a principle consistent with public health and a pandemic.

The real problem is that the father is mentally, not medically, incapable.

And, if they're medically incapable of wearing masks for long periods, then they're also medically incapable of flying for long periods. I wonder what the mask rules are for busses and trains?
