Tester says he'll vote against Biden vaccine rule for large employers

Source: Montana Public Radio

Montana’s senior U.S. Senator plans to join Republicans this week in an expected vote to nullify the Biden Administration's vaccine rule for large employers.

Democrat Jon Tester says he opposes the COVID vaccine mandate for private businesses with more than 100 employees. In a statement released Tuesday, Tester described the mandate as a "burdensome regulation."

He says Montanans tell him mandates hurt their bottom lines and the state’s overall economy.

Despite his opposition to mandates, he urged Montanans to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

But since he's not up until 2024, I don't know.

6. If his political future is this tenuous ,,,,do the right thing and vote your heart.

Let the idiots replace you, if this is what the State deserves.

7. It depends on what you view his job as.

His constituents probably wants no mandate as it's a red state. If he is representing their voices, then voting against it may be the right answer.

11. Please. He's not stupid.

He’s not. He’s trying to keep his senate seat in a state that’s imploding at the moment. Further, we have a brand new congressional seat up for grabs in 2022 since our state population just tipped over 1 million people…the front runner for that seat is Ryan “the crook” Zinke and OH MY GOD we need to keep Jon Tester’s senate seat. He’s a goddamn farmer…organic farmer to boot. He’s not a senator to get rich.

16. Please spend a little time and go back to see what happened to Governor Bullock.........

……..when he ran for the Senate in 2020. Bullock argued against Dark Money in the Supreme Court. He was a two term governor. Amazingly progressive Democrat for Montana. 2020 awakened something truly ugly in Montana. He lost to Steve Daines. Tester is way better than Joe Manchin. Old, white republicans are dying like flies. We’ve moved up to #20 in deaths per million. A couple of more waves of Covid-19 and we could have a shot in the House seats in the mid terms. Seriously, I really don’t agree with his position on his, but the Dems need to hold on to Senate seats.

Fucking own what you believe, pro-Democrat and pro-DOJ. Let's make it hurt. Or not, if you a Trump Republican. Good luck.

20. I've been bitching about Republican lite since Reagan.

For a second time, please do some research about Montana. The documentary "Dark Money" would be a place to start. Tester is my Senator. I watch all of his votes, not just this one. I’m a full tilt progressive. I was/am a Warren supporter. I believe that Senator Sanders qualifies as a Democrat. But I proudly voted for Joe Biden. I’m not strategically stupid. Tester votes correctly 96% of the time. Our other Senator, never. I’m also in the entertainment business. I’m sooooo sick of Covid and anti science BS. Tester’s staff will get an earful tomorrow, don’t worry. Please watch that movie and study the 2020 Republican wave in Montana. Take a walk on the wild side.

17. Bail?

What…move my family? Move my son who was born and raised here in blue Missoula…he’s a junior in high school…are you suggesting I take him away from all he’s ever known? Are you suggesting that I shutter the two small businesses that my husband and I own that currently employs 6 people at a living wage that includes health insurance and a company matched 401K among other benefits? Wow.

I’m curious what “right thing” you would have me do on the way out. Please elaborate. Seriously.

13. I agree.

And a nationwide mandate is the right thing to do but it will be tied up in court and get on the bad side of too many people. Leave the mandate on the state or company level.

Have we ever had a nationwide mandate on vaccines?

I would much rather go with the higher premium for unvaccinated or unvaccinated people pay their own hospital bill kind of thing.

3. Because employers don't have to provide a safe work environment, and not requiring employees

to get vaccinated puts those employees and customers at risk

This country is anti-science

The anti-vaxers are winning

14. Tester Used to be a responsive main line Dem. Lately he seems to talk out of both sides of his mouth

He's our Senator but I cannot figure this out. Must be someone with the big mining money got to him? I'm calling his office tomorrow and there are gonna be some burnt ears when I'm done. My Dad helped get him elected in this county on his first run, along with a number of other Dems who got together and organized it. This is pure Bull about the "burden" and "bottom line". It has neither effect and Tester knows that, and so does his staff.
