US delegation meets with Taliban representatives in Doha
Source: CNN
A US delegation was set to meet with "senior Taliban representatives from Kabul" in Doha, Qatar, this weekend, a State Department official said ahead of the meeting -- the first such gathering since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan at the end of August. "This meeting is a continuation of the pragmatic engagements with the Taliban on issues of US vital national interest," the official told CNN. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid told reporters on Saturday, "We had a detailed discussion with the American delegation in Doha, and this discussion with continue all day today and into tomorrow as well." "During this meeting, discussions were made about the humanitarian assistance as well and this discussion will continue," Mujahid said. 1. the US pays coming and going.
can't help thinking Pakistan should be carrying the bulk of the Humanitarian Assistance cost. they wanted this outcome.
i wonder if there will be any conditions other than "we promise to oppress less this time"? |

4. I think that Vietnam was secretly promised aid
during the peace negotiations, but I don't think they ever got it (or at least for a very long time).
Vietnam had many bad years, but seems to be be in much better shape now. Perhaps they should be a model for Afghanistan. |

6. I don't actually expect aid from Pakistan. They are a basketcase of a country.
They harbored and abetted the Talibs to placate their Pashtuns and avoid an insurgency in the NW Territories.

2. C'mon, West, be humanitarian, right? Help us live the style to which we've become accustomed,
cuz y'all know it's just a believers' reproduction race, right? All this beheading, keeping women down, governing and having a GDP all at the same time is just too hard. "
Wait, what? You want to buy precious metals? |

3. Fascists like The Taliban just love to negotiate but they always negotiate in
bad faith. I'm sorry to see the U.S. even sitting down with them.
