France said Thursday it had killed Adnan Abu Walid al-Sahrawi, the Islamic State leader who led the killing of four U.S. servicemen in Niger in 2017 and was the architect of one of the terrorist outfit’s most successful franchises following the group’s loss of its Middle East territories.

“This is another major success in our fight against terrorist groups in the Sahel,” French President Emmanuel Macron said, referring to the vast semiarid region south of the Sahara that has become home to some of the world’s most deadly jihadist cells. He didn’t provide details on when or where precisely al-Sahrawi had died.

1. It takes a village . ...

allies working together to combat world terrorism.

It also takes a village from within to combat domestic terrorism as well.

12. My first thought as well...Trump was never quite able to keep his utter contempt for the military

to himself, and especially for people of color in the military, but in the early days he was particularly vocal about it.

6. Thank you France

Reminder, these are the deaths that Donald Trump completely ignored, eh didn't even mention them for 6 weeks after they were killed.

16. In discussing the death of one of the four soldiers Trump killed in Niger, he 'knew what he signed u

Yet our conservatives got all upset about four killed in Benghazi but don't care about four of our soldiers killed by Trump in Niger.

In discussing the death of one of the four soldiers Trump killed in Niger, he 'knew what he signed up for'

10. Oh, my RW neighbor will probably say "My country is such a baby that those French guys had to do our

work for them!"

Oh, the whining from the RW. Ignoring the fact that the French did this as a part of an overall effort against terrorism and, I'm sure, with the knowledge of Biden and his team in the military and our State Department.

Trump sure didn't get him.

11. Niger had been a French colony at one time

so France essentially had a "lay of the land" / "historic intelligence" perspective of the country.

I am glad they managed to do this and hopefully this will be able to bring about some closure for the families of those soldiers.
