Manhattan, Westchester DAs request evidence from Cuomo sex harassment probe

Source: CNBC

The district attorneys for Manhattan and Westchester County asked New York Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday for evidence related to her office's bombshell report accusing Gov. Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment.

Westchester DA Mimi Rocah, in a letter obtained by NBC News, told James she plans to conduct an inquiry into whether the alleged sexual misconduct by Cuomo that occurred in her jurisdiction was "criminal in nature."

A spokesperson for Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr. told NBC later Wednesday that, "When our office learned yesterday that the Attorney General's investigation of the Governor's conduct was complete, our office contacted the Attorney General's Office to begin requesting investigative materials in their possession pertaining to incidents that occurred in Manhattan."

The 165-page report, the culmination of five months of investigation and 179 witness interviews, concluded that Cuomo violated federal and state laws. But that probe was not explicitly tied to any punishments for the governor.

If AG James said that Cuomo has violated Federal and State laws, then why isn’t she bringing State charges??

Just trying to get my head around all this. I know Cuomo has been an idiot. Behaving like the old-school male chauvinist that he is. Crossing boundaries that have long been demarcated. But, damn. He has been great during the pandemic.

I do worry about us ( I am a NY resident) winding up with a DINO or worse, a Republican Gov., after the dust settles. I know we have Lt Gov Hochul in the short term, after an impeachment. But what about the long term?

Along with Calif Gov Newsom recall attempt, I am getting really uneasy.

Very uneasy about the entire thing.

I'm starting to feel like we're standing in a circular firing squad.

Your comment:

"But, damn. He has been great during the pandemic."

Doesn't excuse his behavior in the slightest or gives him a pass. No progressive would even contemplate excusing his behavior because of other "good works". A progressive would stand firm with women who have been sexually harassed and demand that justice be done.

It's simple. One can't be a progressive if they defend a sexual harasser.

He got that 5 million dollar book deal and then had his state funded office staff writing and editing portions of the book? That by itself sounds criminal, it amounts to stealing state taxpayer funded resources, potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars.

How arrogant do you have to be for that to seem like a good idea?
