Pro-Biden groups to spend $100 million on August ad blitz

Source: AP

By JONATHAN LEMIRE

WASHINGTON (AP) ó An array of progressive and pro-White House groups plans to spend nearly $100 million to promote President Joe Bidenís agenda over the next month to pressure Congress while lawmakers are on their August recess.

The push being announced Monday, coupled with a wave of travel by the presidentís top surrogates, is meant to promote and secure passage of Bidenís two-track infrastructure plan: a bipartisan package focused on highways, transit and broadband, and a Democrats-only budget reconciliation bill for child care and what the White House calls human infrastructure.

Votes on both proposals, expected in the weeks ahead, are expected to be narrow, with Biden and Democratic leaders needing to keep in line a group of moderate Republicans for the nearly $1 trillion bipartisan bill as well as an ideologically diverse set of Democrats for the potentially $3.5 trillion reconciliation package.

An outside coalition of progressive organizations launched a war room and is planning to host over 1,000 events and actions over the next six weeks, The Associated Press learned. The goal, officials said, was to bombard the home districts of members of Congress with ads ó both televised and digital ó to keep the pressure on to follow through on their votes as well as to underscore much of the agendaís popularity with the public.

1. Great News!

I am really sick of the MSM concentrating on petty words from sore losers and misinformation! They are lies, plain old lies.

Getting this infrastructure bill through shows there still are decent Republicans left. I even give Susan Collins credit. Mitch if he votes yes. He said the bill did not give everyone everything they wanted. I will wait to see who the dead heads are who vote against the bill.

2. Great!

This is what has to happen. These groups fund-raise year round and now it's time to spend that $$$. The GOP gets "free press" from the M$M as well as all the radio stations that they own and broadcast their syndicated crap on, 24/7.

3. I will all be for naught,

if we don't get a voter protection law passed. 100 million should be spent on voter protection/election protection.

8. Biden knows how the game is played

He's not afraid to brag about his wins and he's not afraid to take to the airwaves to apply pressure. Guy knows what he's doing.
