Source: new york times
The Vatican announced on Sunday that Pope Francis had been admitted to a hospital in Rome for colon surgery.
Matteo Bruni, a Vatican spokesman, said in a statement that Francis, 84, had been taken to the Gemelli hospital in the Italian capital. Mr. Bruni said the scheduled surgery would take place later on Sunday, and noted that a medical bulletin would be issued afterward. I feel sorry for him, I've been plagued with the disease since my early 20's. I've had Multiple hospitalizations over the years, fortunately medications, iv's and bed rest can get it under control. When active, it can be excruciatingly painful. I had a reminder this past week, stay away from roughage (salads).

(6,017 posts)While he talks a good, vague talk about us, his solution is still to advise the clergy to "minister" us out of our sin.
Regarding abortion, there's ample evidence that there is nobody home inside the human brain until somewhat near birth. The organized connectivity simply isn't there yet.

(14,345 posts)science. The RC church does have aspects of faith healing a la visiting shrines like Lourdes, and Padre Pio.
But Catholics visit doctors. Hell, I was taught evolution in Catholic school Edit: the pontifical academy of sciences is in the Vatican.

(14,345 posts)if someone is mentally ill, and believes they're possessed, praying over them may help them. There's not enough info to tell from the article if it's an exorcism going on.
But the main point of my post is that Catholics see doctors and are not anti-science.

As for the Holy Father, it sounds as though his procedure went well.
